Windows cleaning

,

Windows never hold up the speed more than 2 months if you do a lot of copy and install. So it's recommended that you clean your system thoroughly with CCleaner and WinSysClean. This tools are out long enough that is safe to use them and only this will speed up your system like it was at first run/install stage. If you got stuck with uninstall problems try free Revo Uninstaller. My simple advice is to uninstall what ever you don't need, that will clear out the hard drive and speed up things considerably. Cleaning will also remove hidden backup viruses if any, always have active anti-virus on your system like AVG or Avast. Defragmenting hard drives is not my first choise of tuning things up but if you don't move your data around a lot you can try this also but remember any cached files from web browsing will create fragments again. COMBO LINK

Ubuntu Tip #7: Virtual Windows

, ,

Putting your Windows XP CD to work with Ubuntu it's very easy just install VirtualBox from Add/Remove. Create new entry, and select XP than you must create fixed disk size that will bring the speed and don't make it very big about 6GB will be fine. Start the new entry, select XP CD and install from it. When install is done you must install some drivers to get the best possible speed from it, start with Install Guest Additions from the menu on sub-window of VirtualBox. This will add display driver and get higher resolutions possible, then you need to download Intel mainboard drivers they are combo so it don't matter what you download just use the latest one. VirtualBox offers AHCI support too, you can skip this or enable under settings on VirtualBox it self, before doing that, look for Intel AHCI drivers first. When you have all this covered start disabling some of Windows XP features like System recovery, display effects that are animate, fade and slide that will speed up things considerately. I was getting 300MB/s after defragmenting internally on virtual XP system with ordinary laptop hard drive so why not doing that also, just use internal util under hard drive properties. That's about it and i prefer this option, it's a lot better than using Wine emulator. PIC COMBO LINK

PS: Try creating ISO image from CD/DVD that will bring faster install.

Security plan for your system

, ,

1: Install active anti-virus software like AVG Anti-virus or Avast they are both free and very good.
2: Look for Windows Update icon and use that for latest updates or open wupdmgr.exe from run option under Start and set it to active updates if not active already.
3: If you have download activities check what you share at the same time.
4: Recycling your data over period of time.
5: Use file shredder tools to overwrite you data, Pristy Tools has one.
