Spring Juniper Open 2010

My first race this season took place in Hungary about 20 km from Hungarian-Serbian border.

First day was on scale 1:7500 and course was long 4.5 km.I started the race with a high pace to the first control, map reading was easy on the open terrain and in the clear pine forest but when you enter the yellow-green area you must slow down because if you lose concetration you are doomed..:)My first big mistake was already on the 4th control because i lost concentration and started running in the wrong direction and when i realised that after some 10 meters i took the right direction and went to the control. To the end of the race i made only small mistakes and ended it with 36 minutes.Bad time but not too bad for this terrain and not so bad considering i had only 5-6 map trainings during winter.

Map day 1.

Second day was on 1:10000 scale map on the same terrain but with some new map parts.I started the race again with the high pace to the 1st control. On the 2nd control i lost direction in the green forest and lost 4 minutes. To the end of the race i did't make any big mistakes and ended it with 46 minutes on 5.5 km course.

Map day 2.

I took overral victory with 4 minutes ahead of the 2nd ranked.Good competition with the complicated maps for the season opening.;)Next week i will participate at Beograd Open international competition in Serbia, also first race for Serbian Cup in M20 category.

A new begining...:)Season preview...:)Beograd Open 2010
