Findar on the road

The way I like it.

Recently I added a category called "Music I grew up with" to my links page. The first entry is Beethoven's Symphony 5, conducted by Herbert van Karajan. I played this record hundreds of times so I think I know the music quite well. This particular way van Karajan had it played is just the way I like it. The fifth was written while the sixth was written as well. You can here it (if played the right way!). Some versions I know are to fast and/or without the dynamics and that "Pastoral" touch. That 1st movement should sound like thunder in a german forest. I am still looking for a CD to be independent of YouTube, since I don't have internet in my car yet wink

I grew up with this kind of music for my bedstead was right underneath the pick-up player. These early impressions stick fore ever.

You listened Beethoven when you were a kid?

Findar Monday, January 14, 2008 10:09:15 PM

yes

solidcopper Tuesday, January 15, 2008 12:16:05 PM

Oh I see, that 's why you are now one fine fellow who is clean-shaven and has got mellow kids who don't argue and eat everything you cook while their mother is away!cheers

Findar Tuesday, January 15, 2008 8:40:37 PM

Don't talk about my kids' eating habits. irked Every time I try to make a good pasta they complain about the strange flavor. I should use no garlic, no olives, no pesto. I haven't eaten cabbage for years since my kids don't like it. When I added emping (Melindjo nut chips) to my Indonesian rice they complained the chips were to hot, although they added lots of chilli sauce. Which makes them ordinary kids I think. love

Well, maybe I'm odd. At school I played chess, not poker. I like Beethoven, Bach (no Mozart), Miles Davis, Rage Against The Machine, DJ Armin van Buuren.

Ahahahahaha... Finally see some emotion...you know, you can eat cabbage like a rabbit if you can find a secret place. Ahahaha...

Findar Tuesday, January 15, 2008 10:14:29 PM

Maybe I'll join my rabbit Nikki lol

solidcopper Tuesday, January 15, 2008 10:25:30 PM

Now you are not going to eat raw cabbage, are you?

Findar Tuesday, January 15, 2008 10:51:16 PM

Coocked cabbage with roosted rabbit chef

solidcopper Tuesday, January 15, 2008 11:15:53 PM

Yeah, make good use of your fancy cookware. And don't forget to play Beethoven as background music. The whole thing is a heroic deed after all.

Also, eating under bridge would be a good idea, as you need some privacy. Wait till the kids are in school and wife is at work. Don't forget to bring an umbrella.

Ooh, just discover that the bridge is too far away. If you have to study for 70-298 everyday, you may have to settle at this corner. Sorry about that, but it's not too bad. This is not the same place you raise the rabbit, is it?

I think it is time to send your kids to their grandparents' for a long weekend so that you may prepare food as it was meant to be consumed - and enjoy it.

Findar Monday, January 21, 2008 8:59:09 PM

Today I had Brussels sprouts. Fortunately I don't have to abandon my children in order to have some special food wink

Matthewnoah counte Monday, January 21, 2008 9:32:57 PM

Hahaha. Sending the kids to their rgrandparents isn't abandoning them. It's treating yourself in a manner that makes you able to be a better parent. And it makes both grandparents and grandkids feel pretty special, too.

You can have my brussel sprouts, but I'd like some beets!

Findar Tuesday, January 22, 2008 9:57:42 PM

Have you ever tried "Red beet"? When we had an Irish friend over she called home crying "They want me cry to eat pigfood cry". lol
Rode bieten ( http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kroot/ ) is common Dutch winter food.

I know staying with your grandparents can be a special moment in your life. My grandma was a special one.

Matthewnoah counte Tuesday, January 22, 2008 10:48:53 PM

The end url tag is problematic - I am looking for your post, though. I think we have the same red beets, and they are tasty, though I cannot survive on beet alone.

Sadly, my Duch is not suffiecient to read the Nederlandisch(e?) Wikipedia entry. sad

Findar Wednesday, January 23, 2008 2:53:40 PM

OK, I repaired my links and this Dutch wiki entry is translated like this: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fnl.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FKroot&langpair=nl%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8

BTW Nederlandsche is a very old fashion way of writing. I think they stopped doing it that way in the fifties. Nowadays it's Nederlandse.

Matthewnoah counte Wednesday, January 23, 2008 3:31:16 PM

Hehehe. My high school German teacher was very 1950s, which explains a lot. I am sure she is the one who taught me 'Nederlandische."

Now the link says there is no such wiki article, which I know is untrue, as I saw it yesterday.

Findar Wednesday, January 23, 2008 8:27:46 PM

Repaired the link by remove a %2F
I even checked it this time !!

Matthewnoah counte Wednesday, January 23, 2008 9:07:22 PM

Yes indeed - those are the very same beets I grow in my garden. Delicious!
