Meditation & Mindfulness Practice in the Tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh

Not a Solitary Path

, ,

"There is a lot of suffering, yes, and we have to embrace all this suffering. But to get strong, we also need to touch the positive elements, and when we are strong, we can embrace the suffering in us and all around us. If we see a group of people living mindfully, capable of smiling, of loving, we gain confidence in our future. When we practice mindful breathing, smiling, resting, walking, and working, then we become a positive element in society, and we will inspire confidence all around us. This is the way to avoid letting despair overwhelm us. It is also the way to help the younger generation so they do not lose hope. It is very important that we live our daily life in such a way that demonstrates that a future is possible."

- Thich Nhat Hanh in Friends on the Path: Living Spiritual Communities, edited by Jack Lawlor

It's been too long since last we sat.

This past week, traffic on 459 was backed up so badly, it was more like a parking lot. Apologies to any of you who made the trek to our little church to sit, only to find a note taped to the door.

Many people in our little group have been struggling with family issues lately. Please keep them in your hearts as they take gentle steps through challenging times.

Meanwhile, Halloween has passed and the holidays are quickly approaching.

What better time to stop and sit?

Monday will be the first full day of Daylight Savings time ~ let's honor the day with candles, quiet sitting, and something juicy to nourish our souls.

Please let me know if you will be joining us. Also, if you are a "regular," and haven't been able to join us in a while, I'd love to hear from you. I miss you.
