this is not a love song :

Song of the Week #13

,

Sisters Of Mercy : Temple Of Love (1992)

Gidday pop pickers smile Apologies for the extended delay, but I was away in Sydney Australia doing some learning of an IT nature, and it's taken me a while to get back into it, if you know what I mean smile. Anyway - this week - our old buddies, the laughing Sisters Of Mercy, from the compilation album A Slight Case Of Overbombing. I have all this band's albums, including the 2 compilations - but - don't take that to mean that they're all fantastic...they only made 3 studio albums, and all *are* good, but mostly because they contain some absolutely *standout* songs. In my opinion smile. Anyhoo, a few good songs is all any album needs, and indeed is all most albums actually have lol.

I might have a mild obsession with the Sisters. I have all of the 12"s, plus the albums, plus some tees. The only songs I'm not crazy about are some of the songs on the first side of "First and last and always."

I'm not very familiar with the Sisters - I don't have any of their CDs or anything, but... yeah, it sounds ok. I guess. bigsmile lol

Hi Kimmie - sorry it took me so long to respond - been a busy week and I've been 'losing my place' a bit, if you know what I mean smile I'm just expanding my review of Sis upstairs, because I was in a hurry writing it & didn't do them justice - they were to me an important and influential band smile

And Gavin - ditto about delayed response - sorry, old bean....What 12" (you talking vinyl or CD?) singles do you have?? :interested: smile

12" vinyl; all of the U.K. Releases. Which means I'm missing "When you don't see me," which was only released in Germany. The only track I'm missing (I think) is "Ozymandias", which featured on the "Dominion" 3" C.D. single. Yes, I am sad. I'd love it if The Sisterhood album, "Gift", was rereleased on C.D. My L.P. molts in Ireland. As I said, I am sad. But "Giving ground" is one of my favourites songs. And the Dublin concert '97 was well worth two broken toes. smile
