Some things from Today's Newspapers:
On the front page of the (London-based) Financial Times, a 60-year old man in a dark blue suit wearing a blue shirt and yellow tie poses in a room at the White House. He is making a statement with a row of other men behind him. Some of them are wearing US Military Service veteran's caps. The photo shows the man posed with a picture of US President George Washington is behind him (Is that the Gilbert Stuart portrait, or some other portrait?) The Photo caption says, "George W Bush talks about a House of Representatives vote to add conditions to an emergency funding bill for US forces in Iraq at a White House Reception yesterday for the military and their families." (Photo credit to Reuters news agency)
Headline: IRAN CAPTURES 15 UK sailors
This is an international incident. Story notes that UN Security Council Will Convene
to discuss sanctions on Iran. The price of oil has gone up a bit over this.
From the Wall Street Journal
Lexus is looking for an image makeover to "woo" wealthy buyers
Story about a College in Pennsylvania that was on trial because one of its students committed suicide. The question for the court was 'should Alleghany College have told the parents more about the student before he killed himself."
Today's Wall Street Journal, below the fold:
- A story about an infestation of Spanish beetles in Torremuelle, Spain
- "Democratic Candidates' Fortunes May Rely on Long-Term Iraq Plans"
Invitation to read a story about "March Madness" (College Basketball)
- Bottom right hand of front page, WSJ: nice color advert for the Omega Watch
