Crane Flies (DaddyLongLegs)

Here is a couple of Crane Flies of each sex i think, that i caught with a wildlife observing pot, i got them out and waited for them to settle and then took some photos and released them. They probably wondered what that was all about! lol

Iam not sure why they are nicknamed DaddyLongLegs, i guess its because they are quite large (daddy) and they have long legs i suppose!

I don't know the origin of the name, and couldn't find it on a quick google. I haven't seen as many of them as usual - perhaps they're all in the South Downs this year!
