Aberystwth Castle visit 20th February 2008

Iam a bit behind with my posting lol:P When we were doing a little bit of shopping in the town centre, the Sun came out so we decided to have a look at the Castle. Its really ruins of one but it looked very nice to go and visit. Here are some pics of the coastline and small Pier along the way.

View looking North - makes a change of my east-west views from the south coast!P:

View looking South, there is a memorial monument in the background.

Close up view of the monument, i forgot what it was called but i saw wreaths at the bottom so i think its a memorial monument.

Heres me!

Views of the Castle ruins, its quite a nice place to walk around and at this time of year it was quiet.

Wreaths by the memorial monument and views from the front of it. I found it interesting as its nice to learn a bit of History about mid Wales.

Ideally situated benches and the buildings in the background are part of the University, it feels like a brilliant place to be.

Here is a compass point circle showing which direction places are, like towns from the Irish coast and along the Aberystwth coastline.

We take a closer look at one of the larger pieces of the Castle, and find a board with information of the Castle and its history, i sharpened the board a lot in order for you to try and read it although its tricky you can just make it out!

Iam the King of the Castle!

I took a pic of the archway entrance from inside, the view outside is great.

We had such a nice time. Afterwards we went to my Aunties house for Dinner and as its a small house, Mum and Dad stay at the house while i stay at the University in my sister's dorm. It was great fun feeling like a Uni student! P:

I had a nice nights sleep and i think it is a nice big place, much bigger than the Uni i work at in Bognor! In the morning before going to South Wales, we all had lunch in the Uni cafe and i took a pic of a Dafodil as you have to have a Daffodil photo if you visit Wales!:D

After lunchtime, we said goodbye to my Aunty and sister, my sister is coming back from Easter holidays which is nice, we miss not having her here as mid Wales is a VERY long journey to visit straight from Bognor, about 5 and a half hours!

We got to Caerleon to my other Aunties house around early evening and iam glad iam going to Cwmbran shopping centre the next day because iam running out of clean clothes lol:P

Once again, sorry for the late posting, i had a little rest after sorting out so many pics! I had a great time in Aberystwth and hope to visit it again in the Summer.

Show me the Way to Aberystwth!

Show me the Way to Amarillo, well, Aberystwth anyway! It was quite foggy and cloudy today and after having breakfast in Bostok, we said goodbye to our friends and started to make our way to Aberystwth to see my sister at University there and my Aunty. As we were going there, we met some rather Wintry scenes along the way! It wasnt snow but frost or ice fallen from the trees onto the hedges and looked like snow, i took a few pics here.

Looks rather cold out there! :yikes: Very pretty though none the less. It soon cleared up as we went along into the Cambrian Welsh mountains and i took many photos of the terrain and i wish it was sunnier then it would have looked better.

High mountains.

Small Stream.

Valley with Sheep in, Welsh Sheep are very plentiful here!

More Sheep on a steep hill, i wonder how they stand comfortably without the tendency feeling to roll.

We pass a small Castle in another Valley.

This mountain has a small wind farm.

It wasnt long before we got through the Cambrian mountains and saw the Welsh West coast and Aberystwth. We went to my sister's University first as it was nearer and she was pleased to see us. Her boyfriend who also is from Bognor was there too and here is a pic of their University Dorm where i was to stay the night as theres not much room at my Auntys small bungalow, how exciting:D

It looked nice and i put my luggage in her room and then we went out into Abersytwh town centre to have food at a Whetherspoons restuarant and to explore the Town and remains of a shoreline castle which i will show in the next post. Also the sun decided to come out for the afternoon which was nice. It was a nice journey through the mountains, hope you enjoyed the journey too.:D
