It was Friday the 13th, a Dash 8 had crashed as little as an hour ago when i woke up at 4am! Although i didnt know this until i landed. Wouldnt have made a difference anyway as flying is really safe, more chance of me dying in a smash on the treacherous A27 on the way to Southampton than being involved in a plane crash! Anyway back on with the trip.
We left at 5am and made sure we had everything before we left which was good.
Mum and Dad got up aswell, they probably thought getting up this early was mad!

At 6:30am they commenced boarding, i asked the flight dispatcher what reg the plane i will be flying on today and she said it was G-JEDK which was cool, i was the first one on aswell.
Video of Foxy on the plane!
Me on the plane in seat 12A.

Foxy and Snoopy too lol.

Safety card.

Iam always curious how a Dash 8 can make a successful water landing and float on the belly, wouldnt it sink to the wings making the cabin underwater?..... probably best not to think about it lol.
It wasnt long before pushback right on time and we taxiied to runway 02, it was still quite dark but i managed a few videos.
Video of before pushback.
Video of startup and safety briefing.
Video of taxiing to the runway.
Video of takeoff from SOU.
It was a nice quick takeoff and i was amazed at how quiet it was, mabe iam sitting in the part where you cant hear the engine as much i suppose.
We climbed to around FL210 as the sun was rising, i saw the Moon just behind the engine.

Its getting lighter which is good.

Me enjoying the flight, it wasnt as full as i thought it was which was good. I was the only one moving around, everyone else acted as if they were on an early train to london.

Beautiful sunrise at FL180, we are cruising a bit lower to avoid the worst of the headwind, Captain West said.

Video of nice sunrise.
I noticed that there was a lot of snow on the ground due to recent snowfall, it made it look like a perfect winter wonderland which was great.
Video of Foxy enjoying the flight.
Video of Snoopy enjoying the flight.
Foxy and Snoopy strapped in.

Snowy scenes 18,000ft down below, looks beautiful.

Video of flying over snowy England.
It wasnt long before we started to descend into Manchester, its such a short flight! But very enjoyable indeed, we were 10 minutes ahead of schedule which was good.
Video of descent into Manchester.
Nice photo of the sun rising behind the aircraft.

It looked like we were coming in for an easterly approach, so the 05's were in use, thats a coincedence as they were doing that last year!
Video of approach to 05R.
Photo of banking onto finals for 05R, very exciting that iam nearly at Manchester yay!

Video of landing at Manchester Airport, it was a nice landing.
Photo of taxiing off the wet runway.

Video of taxiing to stand and engine prop shutdown.
I found it funny when i heard all the clicks when the seatbelt sigh was taken off! I just took my time, the other business pax probably had tight schedules and meetings to go to as they were like off in a shot!
I said thanks to the cabin crew, they were very nice and made my way through arrivals and to the taxi rank where i got a taxi to the AVP, it was then i heard about the crash, i felt sorry for the passengers that got killed, very tragic but i hope it wasnt in vain and lessons can be learnt from it, Flybe grounded nearly all their fleet when it snowed but i guess some companies want to try and keep passengers happy and sometimes it can lead to tradgedy i suppose. Anyway i had a great flight and noticed the Hangar for Concorde.

I think Concorde looked better without it but when its finished i might have a different opinion i think, an unfinished piece of work always looks untidy before its completed.
To finish off, here is G-JEDK my plane heading back to Southampton as BE7362.

You can see all the photos i took here.
