Majorca Holiday Part 6 - Returning Home.
Friday, 31. July 2009, 14:57:36
I woke up first, we had to leave for the airport at 7am so we made sure we had all our cases packed and nothing left behind then got into the cars back to Palma Airport.
Early Sunrise over our villa with the thin crescent Moon.

We arrived at Palma 45 minutes later and checked in for our flight EZY8624 back to Gatwick. After check in, we went through security and had breakfast while we waited for our flight at 9:30am.
At 9am we went to the gate and i saw a A321 which was going to be our flight home today, it was an ex GB Airways A321 registered G-TTIF.
Flight: EZY 8624
Aircraft: Airbus A321-200
Reg. G-TTIF
Departure Time 09:30am - actual 10:30am (due to tech)
Arrival Time 12:30pm
Food, trolley service but didnt buy anything.
Crew - very friendly, highly reccommended.
Flight satisfaction, 100%
G-TTIF on stand.

This was good because theres only 4 of these in the fleet now with the rest going to Monarch already, wonder if this one will go to Monarch too?
When we started boarding, i rushed ahead of my family because you just gotta rush and get those window seats! haha! I got a seat on the right side of the plane just behind the 2nd exit door. and my sister and her boyfriend sat next to me which was good.
When everyone was seated, the captain announced that we will be delayed for a while due to one of the engines ingesting a plastic bag, i didnt mind the wait because it meant i could do more spotting from the window and also the pilot said kids can visit the flight deck........ yes i went too LOL!!!!!
I waited until my turn to go in, the kid infront of me was too scared to go in for some reason hehe.
The pilots were very friendly and let me take a few photos of all around the cockpit and i said i like watching the planes a lot and he said "oh are you one of the bunch who stand by the fence at Gatwick?" i said yes and we laughed hehe.

I had a nice visit to the flightdeck and said thanks to the pilots and asked how long the delay will be, they said it shouldnt take too long, apparently the engineers always have the weekend off so a special one has to be asked to come in, wonder if this costs easyJet more?
30 minutes later we got given the all clear and pushed back and made our way to runway 06R passing lots of other stands and airlines. I think we were lucky that we didnt have to go far to our aircraft.
Video of taxi.
Video of takeoff from 06R.
The takeoff was nice and sounded different to the A319 and what suprised me as we climbed further were TV screens popping out of the ceiling every few rows or so, only seen this on the 757, shame the A321 is going as i think this is a nice feature to have on its A321s.
I took dozens of window shots with nice cloud formations and snowy mountains.

Foxy having a nice flight video.
We cruised at FL330 and it was a lovelly flight and a little later we saw another easyjet A319 going the same way as us, like in a formation! I took many photos, unfortunatly even with the long lens they were blurry but here they are.

I found that really beautiful to see, i saw the co pilot while waiting for the loo a while later and he said that plane was heading to Gatwick too but as we were faster we would arrive about 15 minutes ahead of it, how cool!
Some more nice window shots.

We started our descent into Gatwick over the Channel, i bought an easyJet A321 and A319 in a box which was cool.
Nearly home.

I spot Bognor! its so easy, look for the small blob of white, its Butlins, thats how i always know when arriving into the UK from the south.

I love seeing where i live from the air and seeing places i go to, the long peninsular is Selsey and Witterings, i go there to a club and its fantastic from the air!
Aircraft always come over here then turn right towards Gatwick, see them from my house a lot doing this. Unfortunatly, Bognor was getting obscured by cloud but we were lucky to catch a glimpse of it!
Selsey Peninsular.

Close up of East wittering, Chichester.

Video of descending through clouds.
Under the clouds..... wheres the nice sunshine lol!

Video of landing at Gatwick 26L.
Video just after landing, (my camera was having a bit of trouble, freezing at some points and if it froze i lose the vid so hence why i did it in 2 parts incase it did.)
It was a nice landing and i saw a VS 744 depart and i saw one of easyJet's new A320s G-EZTH land just after us.

Arriving at North Terminal sattellite again, thats good as i want to have a bit more time on the bridge.

passing under the bridge, heading for stand 101.

It was a very nice flight and the crew and pilots were so friendly and i said goodbye to them as we disembarked and made our way to the bridge. When we were on the bridge, i stopped for a while to snap photos of planes. As its a rare opportunity i took it to full advantage hehe.
G-VROY parked at remote stand.

I was lucky to catch this BA 772 G-VIIC being towed to a stand, as after 12:30pm these are nearly all gone.

The bridge is segregated for arrivals and departures which is good for sorting passengers but if you wanted to take more photos its best to arrive earlier, i will know this for next time.
We got to immigration and its such a breeze when you compare it to Heathrow. I havent flown from Gatwick for a long time but it felt the same as back in 2005, when i went medium haul. (last time was last year but that was domestic and one way to Manchester.
When we got to arrivals, we collected my baggage and said goodbye to my brother and his girlfriend as they caught the train to Oxford and my parents too my suitcase home while i went to my usual spotting place to do a bit more spotting lol!
It felt strange being back and colder too! so i stayed for a couple of hours before catching the train home.
Foxy back at Gatwick Video.
Another easyJet A319 landing, i finished my trip report with one of these.

Foxy back on the train home video.
