I don't know about you but my fingers were totally Frozen and I had a hard time with the camera buttons By the time I got the tripod set up the rings around the moon were gone. This one reminds me of a shot I got earlier this fall. From the long exposure the clouds formed a wierd face under the moon
I'm sure it was much colder up where you are, but it was cold enough that I didn't spend too much time out there. Your photo is much better than mine--beautiful colors! Next time I will use the tripod, but I don't think my camera is sophisticated enough to keep the shutter open as long as yours did. I'll have to go and read my manual to find out! Thanks for sharing.
Night shots are my nemisis. I don't do well with them. That one was purely luck and the cooperative weather. I find I get my best night shots at twilight when there is still some residual light immediately after sunset.
After that, it's a crap shoot!
