These plants don't grow from seeds, but from little bulbs called "pips." http://www.seedsofknowledge.com/lilyofthevalley.html

I think you should be able to get them, as they are well-known in France and Germany....and they do also have a Portuguese name, so that's encouraging!

I call them lily of the valley. I just love their scent!!! And they are gone too soon!

they last only a week or so, but perhaps they smell sweeter because their scent is so fleeting. If they were around as often as dandelions, they might be overlooked in the same way (except by the VERY discerning!).
