The Dark Furie

DP-2 Final Release

,

Last week I gave you all a taste of what I was planning for my new theme, DP-2. This week you can see the final release (until I get bored and redo it even better anyway). I've finally gotten around to renaming the new menu items (Favourites and Unite) and cleaned up the style a lot. Only thing left is to add the banner and sidebar heading backgrounds, but I didn't have time today.

Dark Professional 2 is designed to be a stylish and professional looking update of the current Darkside theme for free use by personal blogs and groups, featuring a redesigned menu system, some renaming of elements, a redesigned blog title format, a new font for titles (only in Opera 10 and higher at the moment) and a cool black on blue-gray colour scheme.

Thanks! up.
I've installed it. happy.
I may add a few details for my background. But I'll need to know the best way to get it to show through. bigsmile.

This one isn't designed to be edited as it would break the aesthetic. Unless you spend hours matching colours, anything you add is likely to look a bit naff or break the theme. Give it a try though and let me know how it works out for you.

up. Comment noted. I plan to create an svg design so matching colours will be easy and adjustable.
All I want is the specific code that allows a background to shine through as in your blog or the thief design for example.

Ah, well in that case it definitely wont work with this theme as you'll break part of the theme.

But it needs a bit more contrast.

BTW, congrats on your MOTW, bigsmile

Thanks.

Contrast as in colour difference?

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, June 23, 2009 6:39:51 PM

By the way, looking through your Neo theme's code really helped me clean this one up. Thanks again for that. yes I think I've finally gotten the hang of working with source code too as I finally managed to figure out how to work the calendar title. happy

Contrast as in luminosity difference. I think the content area blends too much in to the background color.

Aadil, it looks good but some more work is needed with menu. This is how it looks like when I open it with Opera:

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, June 23, 2009 7:33:19 PM

Really? I was still thinking it kinda stands out too much. lol.

Hmmm, the menu shouldn't look like that at all. There should be room for eight distinct items, over two lines. Don't tell me I left the font on?

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, June 23, 2009 7:36:06 PM

Is that used with In The Shadows again?

Darkogdare Tuesday, June 23, 2009 7:43:39 PM

We will have to wait for Aadil`s answers to that left

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, June 23, 2009 8:27:17 PM

In The Shadows is a different style and I've not built anything to work with it yet. As such I'm not going to edit anything to fix it if it's just being used with the wrong base code as it'll mess it up for those using it the way it was designed. Until I know for sure I'll leave it.

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, June 23, 2009 10:46:03 PM

It's per your instructions except for my svg banner. Let me remove the banner for now and see it on it's own. sherlock.
strange thing is, it doesn't do that in Operamini. left.

Mini shows the image breaks. lol Apart from that I can't see anything out of place. The banner image and sidebar headers need to be applied but I didn't have time to upload them.

All that black in the image Darko posted isn't meant to be there. You can see some elements show the right colour, but some don't. It does look like In The Shadows is still applied. Perhaps a cache issue?

Mad Scientistqlue Wednesday, June 24, 2009 1:21:12 AM

Good point. sherlock.
In The Shadows has a hooded figure as part of the theme so you can see it's not that theme. But maybe some to the css is still latent from it.
bigeyes. But hang on, I changed to darkside a while back. So if it's a cache problem, then it's not just a minor glitch. left.
I'll try removing the custom css completely for a bit and then reapply it tomorrow. idea.
That might give us a clue. sherlock.
