Drive-By

Something happened to me a while back. Well, technically I suppose a lot happened to me a while back and has been happening ever since. Hell, things were even happening before all that. I’m just a happening kind of guy I suppose. Do you crazy kids still say ‘happening’ in that way? Groovy!
Anyway, there was one thing that happened that I want to talk about and I guarantee you’ll get the wrong idea as soon as you read what I have to say. I was walking in the street with my fiancé and a car drove by. Now we live in quite a big city so this is quite a regular occurrence. I’m not some form of in-denial Amish guy (and if you know any, keep this article a secret and they’ll never find out what I said) for whom the mere sight of an automobile is enough to make me shit the bed. No, this car had something special about it. I knew something was going to happen because I watch a lot of movies and have trained myself to notice the signs. The window wound down slowly as the car cruised towards us and members of the crowd we were walking through started to move in slow motion. I could almost see the gun start to stick through the window, held sideways in that gangsta-style that all the movies use but that no-one has ever been able to aim accurately with. No gunshot sounded though, no bullets hit me. Instead we were the victims of a drive-by…shouting.
