The Dark Furie

Oh My...

,

Unless you've been living under a rock recently you'll have no doubt heard of the Fifty Shades series of books. If you're female and under-sexed you'll probably have read them by now. If not then you'll have at least heard of them and be wondering what the deal is? Well, it's simple really. Fifty Shades of Grey is porn. No, not your average porn for guys that has pictures and not much else to it, this is the stuff from the letters pages of those magazines and just as poorly written and conceived as those letters are.

Whew! I'm glad you haven't reviewed my book yet. The perverted sex scenes make the pages melt together. alien

"If I could give a decent book to all who thought this was literature, I’d be sure to go broke doing so." I would recommend that all ladies that want literature with their titillation simply buy an old copy of 'Tropic of Cancer' by Henry Miller! smile

Now that's an actual book as opposed to being all about the sex. Sure, it stirred more than a few feathers upon release, but it was about so much more. The themes of the decay of civilisation and the individual resonate even today and are especially relevant to the Fifty Shades series.

I've actually taken to reading less as my own book comes further along. Once I set to writing (which I've been doing for exactly a month now) everything else kind of slowed to a stop while I pounded on the keys with my fist and head. Only read a total of sixteen chapters of a single book this past month. I will however get around to your steamy sex scenes eventually. wink

I like my rock. It's got cable. Basic cable, but still.

I think I've been living under the rock next to Gsvin's rock. I've never heard of them either. I hope they don't make them into movies, yikes!!

I must confess to the same ignorance. But then I read novels by pretentious, literate authors like Jonathan Raban, William Least Heat-Moon and William Boyd, or auto-biographies by the likes of test pilots and chefs, so girly oriented risque material isn't gonna come up on my radar, really smile

Have a look around and you can't miss the bloody things. They sell them everywhere and the sheer hype has caused places to recommend them before knowing what they really are. Only when complaints come in are they removed from the recommendations.

Perhaps they just haven't hit Scandinavia yet. One can always hope that they aren't going to make it here! yes

Plus I know what and who I like, and what genres - that's where my 'search profile' takes me (I only buy online of course, I need books in English), and it's quite possible that these will pass me by, entirely unnoticed :hopes:

Good luck old beans. Hopegully this heads up will help you avoid them when they start posting them through doors as required reading for the world.

If not, Gavin's Rock (great kids television show title) will save you from the coming (cumming?) war.
