The Dark Furie

Didn't See That In The Film

I do not consider Adolf Hitler to be as bad as depicted. He is showing an ability that is amazing, and he seems to be gaining his victories without much bloodshed.

Why, of all the places in Johannesburg, the Indian Location should be chosen for dumping down all the Kaffirs of the town passes my comprehension. They are, as a rule uncivilized - the convicts even more so. They are troublesome, very dirty and live almost like animals.

Am I the only one disturbed that these are quotes from Gandhi?

Hell Is Soylent Green

Hell Is Other People
I was thinking about that statement the other day. Each interaction we have with others can be both positive and negative. Each can affect us to the very core of our being. Sometimes I wonder if the only truly happy person in the world would have no interaction with or even knowledge of other people. If that person could survive in that state somehow I bet they'd love their life. Not that they'd have the language to communicate that.

Arguments.

So many little things can cause them: a misplaced vocal inflection, a misheard word, even the look on someone's face when they say something completely innocent. Mistakes everywhere can cause just as many arguments as differing points of view. Sometimes I think it'd be better if all people spoke over the internet instead of face to face. Then of course we get new problems: no vocal inflection to words, mistyped words, no visual clues to a person's mood. All these little things can easily lead to arguments.

Is it possible that these things aren't really the cause of our disagreements, but that we actually use them as excuses to argue? Are we really such antagonistic creatures that this is a basic need built into our psychological make-up? Can we really be ourselves without arguing or do we have to state our point of view as forcibly as our opponent (usually those closest to us) in order to feel justified in it? I have two conflicting ideas regarding this running round my head at the moment, which neatly brings us right back to the beginning and is quite fitting for the subject of this post really.

Arguments.

Mailing List Update

Due to popular demand (two people) I've been investigating ways to send java games out without first putting them in a ZIP file. I sent one out today as it's base file. Not so good a game, but hey it's free you know so give it a chance.

Can someone who's a member here let me know if you're able to download it easily please?

Ha! Hoo chaaa! And it was a little bit frightening...

You get 50 points for setting up a back-up site, each uploaded video or image, adding a personal e-mail address to your account, inviting other users (annoyingly I found out about this promotion after sending out a load of invitations), and having a friend you invited start an account.
You get 25 points for each time you update your status on a social network, each added feed, each invited friend who clicks the link in the message you sent, and each invited friend who signs up.
And finally you get 15 points each time you comment on someone else's media online.

There will be weekly prizes (ranging from gadgets to good old fashioned cash) given to the Zu Fighter who earns the most points in that week.

Out Of Memory?

,

Yesterday a new memory card format was announced, but I couldn't be bothered to post about it at the time. The SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity) has an improved read/write speed of 300MBPS although the first releases will only have 104MBPS. The card's real advantage over current memory cards is the improved storage capacity - up to two terabytes (2,000GB) of data! That's enough space to hold 100 high definition movies.

Now I know that these are designed more for laptops and camcorders, but I just know someone is going to want one for their phone. At the moment they'll be out of luck as no handset manufacturers have announced they'll support the new format, despite the advert showing a phone. What I wonder is why anyone would need that much storage space on their phones? The majority of users don't change the memory card that comes with the handset when they buy it (usually 512MB, but can be up to 2GB). I'm a hardcore phone user and I've only just scratched the surface of my fourth gigabyte of storage. Are there really people out there who have that much high definition music, photos and video that they must carry everywhere with them? Seriously, two terabytes worth?
