The Symbian Foundation have finally released a phone theme that incorporates their new stylings and I'm in love with it. So much so that I've extracted the background image and am planning on incorporating it into this page design to make things a bit more stylish. Of course it'll need blowing up a little and if the quality suffers too much I'll scrap the idea, but it may work.
For those of you that like the look of this stylish phone theme and own a Series 60 phone (3rd or 5th edition) you can download it from here.

Don't mind me. I'm just testing out a theory I have about how to create imposed captions in different positions, which can be useful for certain posts. It's not quite done yet, but have a look over. You may find something you can use in there.
Caption Test Text 1
Caption Test Text 2
Caption Test Text 3
Anyone interested in this can find the code below:
<div style="width:100%;height:200px;background:url(http://media.share.ovi.com/m1/s/0983/6da07eaf90c64998addd1695e097f242.jpg) no-repeat;padding:5px;position:relative;"><h1 style="font-size:30px;color:red;width:100%;text-align:center;">Caption Test Text 1</h1><h1 style="font-size:20px;color:white;width:100%;text-align:left;text-shadow:gray 2px 2px 2px;">Caption Test Text 2</h1><h1 style="font-size:40px;color:blue;width:100%;text-align:right;bottom:0;">Caption Test Text 3</h1></div>
As you can see I'm having problems getting the blue caption to go to the bottom and stay within the image. Anyone got any ideas?

The fact that I understood this convinced me to stop messing around with CSS for a while.

Last week I gave you all a taste of what I was planning for my new theme, DP-2. This week you can see the final release (until I get bored and redo it even better anyway). I've finally gotten around to renaming the new menu items (Favourites and Unite) and cleaned up the style a lot. Only thing left is to add the banner and sidebar heading backgrounds, but I didn't have time today.
Dark Professional 2 is designed to be a stylish and professional looking update of the current Darkside theme for free use by personal blogs and groups, featuring a redesigned menu system, some renaming of elements, a redesigned blog title format, a new font for titles (only in Opera 10 and higher at the moment) and a cool black on blue-gray colour scheme.

A while ago I released a theme called Dark Professional. The idea behind the theme was to make a better version of the Darkside theme on Opera. However, somewhere along the line I decided to make the theme easily customisable for users, and cut the theme down for that reason to allow people to easily add their own effects to it. Dark Professional 2 is my attempt to get back to the core idea that I started with.

If you're a regular reader you'll know I'm an egotistical bastard who doesn't think anyone can better him at anything. If you're a regular reader and I count you as my friend you'll have realised by now that I just put that image forward because it's fun to play that role. Everything good about my page is something I've picked up elsewhere, and I'll freely admit that I wouldn't have been able to do half the things I do without the help I've had from people along the way. That's one of the reasons I give back to this community whenever I can.
What I'm giving back today isn't even something of my own, rather it's a link to a fucking awesome blog design by Dr Launch, the guy who got me started with CSS in the first place and who helped me see the hidden simplicity in the reams of code so that I could eventually tune this page to my own style. The theme he's just created is absolutely beautiful and I just had to bring it to the attention of more people.

Neo is a smooth and silly dark design incorporating reds and black. The menu has been moved to the top of the banner and is beautifully tabbed. Although still a work in progress, this design shows a hell of a lot of promise and would add a more professional feel to anyone's page.
You can check it out and install it from here.
