The Dark Furie

Opera Mini 4

The bar for mobile browsing just got raised over at Opera Mini.

I'm off out at the moment, so can't test it fully. But I did notice a virtual mouse as well as 4-way scrolling.

Hmmm, wouldn't let me post this from the new beta. Grrr...

theoddbod 19. June 2007, 10:33

Did it just ask you to login again? I haven't had any problems posting apart from the login not persisting for very long. I haven't tried a blog entry though, only posts and comments.

theoddbod 19. June 2007, 10:38

Worked for me, although I only did a test sentence.

Santa Furie 19. June 2007, 11:11

Hmmm... It keeps losing what I enter in text fields.

theoddbod 19. June 2007, 11:53

I haven't had any problems yet apart from the login thing. Plus I keep using my knackered joystick to scroll when I don't need to.

Santa Furie 19. June 2007, 12:22

You found the context menu on key 1 yet?

theoddbod 19. June 2007, 16:52

First thing i actually unambiguously liked - i'm not sold on the new interface yet. I've had one crash so far - that was when trying to reload a 250k page.

Cois 20. June 2007, 09:46

This is actually hard... Playing with it now for first time and had to use fit to screen to get to comments..
Small screen rendering? Not like in Opera Mini..

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 10:07

It plays differently depending on the site you view. It's actually better when it's not on My Opera, in my opinion.

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 10:22

Yeah, My Opera is one of the sites that it doesn't look good on. Amazon looks superb, although as it's very cookie-heavy i wouldn't use it until they've definitely fixed the cookie problem.

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 10:38

It was Play that blew me away. Here's a question. Most things on mine were identified as pop-ups on the address bar at the top. Anyone else have that happen?

Cois 20. June 2007, 10:44

Haven't played around with it enough.. went to a few sites and it works quite well.. then it said out of memory but it didn't want to reload..
Couldn't find posts on watched items page.. but I guess they'll fix it..

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 10:54

Were you using the back button to save memory? I found that you have to reload the watched items page every time you want to view something from it. Hopefully that'll change before it's full release.

Cois 20. June 2007, 11:10

I use history to get to watched items.. on this phone using the back button still reloads a page so I don't save on data costs..

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 11:11

What do you mean, popups on the address bar?

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 11:37

Well on this one, at the top, it says Opera Mini 4 - A Man...

On Dimension it said Popup: Opera Mini 4...

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 13:06

It doesn't do that for me. I do get a grey border down the right, but that's because i didn't login in and the password box is screwed up. There's still a good bit of work to be done. Amazon looks great generally but the three entities used to search (dropdown, textbox and Go button) are crazily spaced.

Cois 20. June 2007, 14:59

My yahoo searchengine is now just a white screen on 4.
Can only use url only.. is this just me?

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 15:04

Apparently the cookie issue has just been fixed. Time to test again...

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 16:07

Nope, the logins are still screwed. :irked:
This is one of those things i can't believe wasn't spotted in earlier testing, so it's probably a deployment bug when they moved from the internal servers to the main ones.

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 16:55

I don't use Yahoo search, I'm a google man so I can't comment on it. Use the feedback link to report it though.

Cois 20. June 2007, 20:53

I'm using google by using the go to url link...
It sometimes work.. even with opera mini..
Was going through my emails at gmail.. kept logging me off.. but I backbuttoned and clicked again and it let me through..

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 22:00

Hmmm, that shouldn't happen...

Cois 20. June 2007, 22:07

Using it now... Keeps logging me off.. Can't do it here though..

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 22:11

Wow! Three posts! That happened to me before too.

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 22:15

I'm always tidying up after you boys. The sooner you leave home, the better.
:irked:

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 22:17

Yes, Auntie Furie

Santa Furie 20. June 2007, 22:22

Hmmm... That reminds me.

theoddbod 20. June 2007, 22:31

So I noticed...
