The Dark Furie

The Furie Cheese Steak

This post is brought to you in competition with Tilla's Recipe Service.

Start by putting a good piece of steak under the grill. This piece cost me £1.68. By shopping around you can find a similar deal. Remember, the fresher the meat, the better the sandwich.

Then take a good white torpedo bread roll...

...slice it lengthways and get two white american cheese slices ready. I'm using Dairylea because it's extra creamy.

Tear the cheese slices into strips and lay them in the torpedo. Now get some scissors ready for the next step.

Once the steak is cooked to your satisfaction, use the scissors to cut it into strips then cut each strip into chunks. Because I like my steak rare, this stage soaked a tiny bit of blood into the cheese and bread which is how I like it.

Finally, put them all in the torpedo and whack it into the microwave for about 15 seconds to make the cheese melt a bit more.

Flavour with salt, pepper and mustard then sit back and enjoy as a main meal or share with a friend as a snack.

being from philadelphia "the birthplace" of the cheesesteak, i feel i must take offence. where r the fried onions? the hot and sweet peppers? and american cheese! no way, it's gotta be cheez whiz. and the bread has gotta be just gotta be amorosa's, which unfortunately is a strictly philly bakery. so meh p

Dark FurieFurie Saturday, October 20, 2007 4:25:25 PM

And are all those things in the Furie cheese steak? Nope. The Furies have been around for thousands of years hence I'm offended at you new young philadelphians adding such crap to my recipe.

Total cost = £2.50 with left over cheese and bread. About five dollars.

And that's a dinner plate it's on in the photos.
