The Dark Furie

Finally Finished My CSS

Well, it took me about a month to learn what I was doing and create what I wanted, but it's pretty much done now.

Thanks go to the following people who may or may not (I stole a lot of code for analysis) know that they helped.

  • Demiphonic - who got me interested in this stuff in the first place.
  • Dr Launch - who taught me it's possible to use the basic sheets as a base for your own modifications and not worry about doing everything.
  • Fred - without his stylesheet I'd never have managed to learn how to move the main menu and resize it.
  • Kite Geek - who sorted me out some free morphing software and a tutorial that ultimately helped me to make the pulsating banner.
  • You horrible lot - who visited me so often that I thought I'd give you something special to visit.

I've got a couple more minor modifications to make yet including uploading some seasonal banners to go up when the time is right. But apart from that, I'm finished. Phew, it was exhausting.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, November 4, 2007 3:22:12 AM

Clear ya cache and reload. I've checked it on every browser I can find for free.

Dacotah Sunday, November 4, 2007 3:35:47 AM

pssst I guess I should concider myself lucky! bigsmile

Dacotah Sunday, November 4, 2007 11:49:53 AM

How it looks in IE7 to me. No "The Dark Furie" on here.

Dacotah Sunday, November 4, 2007 11:55:08 AM

Did you notice how you banner looks different, in My Opera it's silver, in IE7 Black.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, November 4, 2007 12:43:39 PM

Um, the banner is an animation. Can't you see that? There's only 4 items on my menu and you're showing 5 on your screenshot. Wonder how that happened? Which version of Opera are you using Carol?

Tilla, any chance of a screenshot on your end?

r♡serose-marie Sunday, November 4, 2007 12:50:41 PM

Did you change anything on your banner now? It seems to be loading more slowly than yesterday.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, November 4, 2007 12:59:28 PM

Yeah, I cut down the frames and used a smaller image. Somehow that made it almost twice as large. irked

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:09:40 PM

Carol, I just got a better look at your screenshot. Looks like your browser is reading fonts bigger than I set them. I've shortened the name of the second menu item so it should work better now.

Dacotah Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:13:08 PM

YAY, party It's gone now. party up

r♡serose-marie Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:14:34 PM

Oh...
Well, for what it's worth, it looks great in Opera (desktop) 9.23 up
However, the icon in the menu covers half the A in A man called Furie.

Dacotah Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:26:35 PM

What I don't get now is how it's different in IE7 and on My Opera.
My Opera says:
A Man Called Furie
Chronicles
The Furie's Eye
The Dark Furie

But in IE7 it's:
Blog
Archive
Photos
About

r♡serose-marie Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:29:50 PM

It also seems Opera adds extra padding from the banner down to the post.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:46:39 PM

There are some things that IE can't handle in CSS, like changing the name of menu items for instance.

On the latest version of Opera it displays the same as IE for me, but with the new menu titles.

The menu selector icon's a design decision Rosie. I was considering having a Monty Python style hand instead, but went this way instead. I'm still trying to find a way to change the mouse cursor without people having to download extra stuff.

Attila attilasoul Sunday, November 4, 2007 1:50:08 PM

I'll make a screenshot for you later. I am on the laptop now, no software for the fun photo making here bigsmile

Attila attilasoul Sunday, November 4, 2007 6:05:13 PM

There you go. See? No Dark Furie there.

Dacotah Sunday, November 4, 2007 6:06:48 PM

FF is the same as IE7 with the wording. On Opera browser it is worded different.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, November 4, 2007 6:09:22 PM

Yeah, using the Opera browser gives you different titles for the menus thanks to a bit of code I used in the stylesheet.

Dark FurieFurie Monday, November 5, 2007 1:14:17 AM

This has always been the way of the Furie, grasshopper. Master karma and it shall divert aggression aimed at you to some other poor sap.

-demiphonic Monday, November 5, 2007 3:20:33 AM

I've channeled some of that into my "status" all ready devil

Spaggyj Monday, November 5, 2007 9:23:39 AM
