Mobile Newsroom Package

,

Introducing my Mobile Newsroom Package. Created for the professional on the go, this package centres around allowing you to keep an eye on the news wherever you are using your s60 3rd edition phone. And, as this is a Furie approved and tested package, you can be sure that everything will be done as cheaply and as stylishly as possible.

This package contains the following:

  • Like Haze theme for that distinctly professional look.
  • Two satellite wallpapers to add a newsroom feel to the Active Standby screen.
  • Mobile Weather application to keep an eye on the weather in any of your multiple chosen locations.
  • Reuters Mobile application to read news stories in a slick and cheap environment.
  • Touchticker application that adds a news ticker to the bottom of the Active Standby screen.
  • Reuters ringtone for those that love the news a little too much.

To download this package you'll need ZIP capability on your phone. If you don't have one already you can download a good ZIP manager here for free, which will enable you to download ZIP files.

Once you've got that installed you can get this package by clicking the download icon on the left of the page.

cool
Mik,my budget is 200 to 300$,which latest mobile would you suggest me to buy?

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 12:03:36 PM

Are you talking with or without a contract?

KYrenKYren Tuesday, July 8, 2008 1:38:51 PM

Without contract.smile I don't want to get into the clutches of the mobile operators.

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, July 8, 2008 2:16:19 PM

I saw when you collected this on your Mosh page but never got around to it..
Will have to wait a bit stil as my network is messed up all day now.. irked

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, July 8, 2008 2:50:50 PM

They've been messed up all decade. whistle .
It could be worse, They don't require your soul as a deposit yet! (it's only optional still ) left

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 4:19:58 PM

I'll warn you, it's a bit over a 2mb download. It's a practice for my mobile blogging kit, which will be smaller, thankfully. Finding the right format for inserted files (I'm going with .txt now), finding any upload/download problems, determining the best place to link to, etc.

There's not much choice at that price range Kiran. I'm assuming you're using american dollars so I'll have a look around. Let me know if you're not.

KYrenKYren Tuesday, July 8, 2008 5:15:03 PM

I am using Indian Rupees. My budget is 10,000 to 12,000($200-300) in Indian Rupees. You know you can buy a 21' colour TV at that price in India.Buying a new mobile every 3 yeas is like buying a new tv every three year. Most of the people here don't throw their tvs for 10 years.smile
Btw ovi.com doesn't work well on 6630.I think I will use photobucket.com.
My mobile operator doesn't allow me downlaod more than 2 Mb at a time.

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 6:25:32 PM

That's cause it's http://share.ovi.com that you're looking for.

Lets see, todays exchange rate puts 12,000 rupees at $298 or £150.52. For that price you're pretty limited in what you can get. Having said that, Nokia's just released series 40 5th edition in it's Supernova line. Or if you're interested in a smartphone there's the old series 60 2nd edition for that price.

Back in a sec with a link.

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, July 8, 2008 6:44:59 PM

Size doesn't matter although if it'll work does.. i've downloaded some large files only to find they don't work on the phone..
That's the part that sucks to be a South African on limited data..

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 6:47:30 PM

This is the best featured phone on your budget at the moment, Kiran.

Or if you don't want a smartphone you could try this.

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 6:50:18 PM

It should work fine, although it's several applications, not just one. bigsmile

KYrenKYren Tuesday, July 8, 2008 7:01:42 PM

I want a phone which would be compatible with your MOSH apps.Rs. 12,000 still a big amount and it's unfair that I can't get a decent phone with touchscreen at that price.

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 7:37:33 PM

Touchscreen tech is still expensive. If you want one that'll work with the apps I put up here, go for the first link I put up. You can ask Clint for an opinion as he owns that phone and doesn't brick it half as much as I do.

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 7:45:39 PM

Oh Clint, I've just finished compiling my mobile blogging kit and there's only one app that you don't have, I think. I'm gonna mail it to you in a ZIP file. Let me know if it works when you can download it will ya?

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, July 8, 2008 7:50:05 PM

Network fulla crap still.. Downloads but after a while restarts whole download.. irked not my week this is..

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, July 8, 2008 9:58:18 PM

Hate it when it does that. I thought for a while it was Nokia cause it always seems to stop at 44% bomb

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, July 8, 2008 10:34:14 PM

You too huh.. irked gonna try in a bit again..
I haven't downloaded all my previous apps yet.. Or most and others I just don't use..

My signal strength has been one bar to nothing all day and I can't figure out why.. Gonna bother someone soon just for the heck of it..

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, July 8, 2008 10:47:14 PM

Bloody networks.. irked think I'll call it a night.. Meds making me loopy anyway.. p

Bad WolfCois Wednesday, July 9, 2008 12:07:35 AM

Network worked fine from around 1 now it doesn't wanna download.. left something is messing with me.. mad

KYrenKYren Wednesday, July 9, 2008 3:46:09 AM

Thank you,Mik.Btw which phone you are using nowadays,Mik? Ovi share is still not working on my phone.6120 is not available in India. So I will have to keep using 6630.Hi Cois, what's been your experience with 6120.

Bad WolfCois Wednesday, July 9, 2008 9:32:10 AM

Overall its a nice little phone for a first smartphone.. Its dependant on the person who uses it I'd think..
Bit on the small side but you get used to it pretty quickly..
Now if only my bloody network will stop messing with me I'll be able to download some more applications to make it even cooler.. p

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 3, 2009 9:02:12 PM

Some help required. awww.
The link to the zip manager doesn't seem to help. Fortunately, my phone comes with a built-in zip manager. However, as luck would have it, a colleague of mine chose today to ask for help. I need to install X-plore on her phone so that I can retrieve the memory card's lock code. She has a Nokia XpressMusic (don't ask which one, I've forgotten already rolleyes) which does not have a built-in zip manager. Now, I've downloaded X-plore to her phone, but because it's zipped, I can't install it there! irked.
So I came here, where I know there is a link to a zip manager. Only, the link doesn't in to the zip manager anymore since Getjar has updated their site since you linked to it. awww.

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, December 3, 2009 9:31:26 PM

http://channel.getjar.com/mobile/products/11257/ZipManager/filter/Nokia/6120_classic?ref=0&lvt=1259875273 is what I use to add ZIP functionality to my phones. Once you've got Xplore you'll still need that ZIP Manager because it allows you to download ZIP files directly to the phone. Later models have this installed out of the box, and added RAR download functionality.

Make sure you tutor your friend with Xplore before leaving her with it. It's a powerful file manager and someone without experience can easily delete some of the phone's core files with it. You can stop them showing in the config menu though.

Mad Scientistqlue Friday, December 4, 2009 3:08:52 AM

Thanks. I'll be sure to give her the needed instructions. Although, chances are, she'll never use it herself. Most people around here can't seem to get beyond MXIT irked.

Bad WolfCois Monday, December 7, 2009 3:43:25 PM

Ah. Glad to get back to this.
Is it possible for you to send a Zipmanager to my email?
It's a bitch to go looking though X-plore allows me to extract content from zip files and being able to send via bluetooth is easy it gets irritating if the people can't do it themselves. irked

Dark FurieFurie Monday, December 7, 2009 5:25:45 PM

No probs. Network's playing silly buggers at the moment though. Probably do it tomorrow.

Bad WolfCois Wednesday, December 9, 2009 9:51:47 AM

Mine too. My phone's been acting up actually. Shutting down at random times. Sim card registration failure.
Blaming this RICA shit we got on here as after registration that disappeared but the random shut down continues. Hard Reset?

Mad Scientistqlue Wednesday, December 9, 2009 3:54:44 PM

I haven't done that RICA thing yet. left. I received an sms about it, but that was before my phone crashed. :shrugs:.
If it's anything like the story with the banks, then they won't accept an erf number as an address!. rolleyes.
The bank even asked me if I have any account sent to that address! Of course, that would not be possible anyway since there are no street deliveries in Umzinto anyway! p.
So what did they require of you for this RICA thing anyway? The blood of a lamb?, your first born?, your soul?, ... left.

Dark FurieFurie Wednesday, December 9, 2009 9:36:11 PM

RICA? left

Mad Scientistqlue Wednesday, December 9, 2009 10:15:01 PM

Think big brother/1984 only it's not a book anymore! scared.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RICA awww.

Dark FurieFurie Wednesday, December 9, 2009 11:30:05 PM

That's fucking disgusting! furious

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 10, 2009 3:54:36 AM

awww.

Bad WolfCois Thursday, December 10, 2009 7:07:36 AM

If you have a municipal account then use that dude. Then just your I.D. and the phone number.
Registration is free but to me the implications is totally fucked up.
People brag about cell phone theft not being possible anymore. doh your sim gets registered not the mobile you dolt. People might be swayed to register because they believe that this is what the function is. doh

Mad Scientistqlue Friday, December 11, 2009 3:21:29 PM

Firstly, I don't have a municipal account because I rent. awww.
The declared purpose of this 'law', is to prevent mobile phone assisted crime. (such as using a mobile phone as a remote detonator). But in truth, it doesn't prevent a criminal from giving any false details.
What it does do, however, is make it possible for the ruling party to spy on it's citizens, potentially eliminating democracy from this country! scared.

Bad WolfCois Friday, December 11, 2009 7:26:12 PM

Use your neighbours account. They don't check and basically it's crap. Or ask your landlord. Takes 5 minutes to register and basically you can give any account you like I've noticed. Criminals will be reading my words and I'm going to jail in the morning.
So far I've registered multiple sims with my own home address and ID.
Hope my brother isn't planning any crap. left

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, December 15, 2009 5:42:10 PM

Just make sure you come to my jail when they arrest you and you'll be ok! p.
(at least, untill I get arrested that is left)

Bad WolfCois Thursday, December 17, 2009 5:20:19 AM

Is that a invitation to make me fart like a old man? left

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 17, 2009 8:37:25 AM

?confused

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, December 17, 2009 11:57:48 AM

I think it's a joke about anal rape. up

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 17, 2009 6:47:42 PM

Then I'll answer 'no' left.
You'll have to ask Dannii if that's what you want. left.

I'm just bored of editing him now. He's so fucking pathetic that he can't even remember to link in his spam yet he still keeps doing it. Surely he should've starved to death from incompetence by now?
