The Dark Furie

Thanks To My Widsets Readers

, ,

This goes out to all my Widsets readers - all three thousand, four hundred and eighty nine of you, which is still a big wow for me. I know it's expensive for most people to view anything over the internet using a mobile phone so I want to thank each and every one of you for using my widget and reading my page this past year. I really should have posted this earlier (October 23rd was the year anniversary of my widget after all), but I haven't been around much for the past month. Been quiet hasn't it? Nevermind, more egocentric humour and examinations of the dark side of humanity are to come. And there'll always be new mobile technology posts.

Also, I thought I should let you mobile tech savvy guys know that the absolutely brilliant Opera Mini (the way I do most things on the web including this page) has just been upgraded to version 4.2 and can be downloaded to most phones from http://mini.opera.com for free. If you can run Widsets, you can run this. Give it a try if you haven't already got it.

Have you tried Nokia Maps?

Santa Furie 27. November 2008, 11:36

Yeah. Google Maps kicks it's ass in most respects. The voices come preloaded on my phone though so I can't replace it. :irked:

I'm trying Google maps but I can't get my gps configurated.
Gonna try nokia maps too.
Can you tell I'm bored and just wanna try out stuff?
This is because of that infernal GeoTag app.

Santa Furie 27. November 2008, 17:49

You have GPS in your phone?

Cois 27. November 2008, 18:46

As I open the My Own folder there was this GPS data thing..when I open it,it searches for GPS satellites but I need to configure some settings methinks..
Then I get navigation, position and trip distance options..
You don't have this on your 6120?

Santa Furie 27. November 2008, 18:59

Ah, that lets you hook it up via bluetooth to a regular GPS device.

Cois 27. November 2008, 19:18

And the network based settings?

Santa Furie 27. November 2008, 19:22

Only work if your network supports positioning. Google Maps automatically detects which cell you're using and places a sort of circle around it for you to see, if the network supports it.

Cois 27. November 2008, 20:42

Well Google maps work but only in a certain radius..
I'm trying to get the GeoTag application to work but it said to configure GPS receiver.
