I've been saying that for years now Carol, but now the analysts have decided to agree. Thing is they're just going by what they know of current circumstances with no further knowledge than most people and no taking into account that things might change, just like they did when they announced that the iPhone would have 30 percent of the market share by now which was fabulously wrong. If Apple brought out something spectacular in their next yearly edition (July 2010 my sardonic crystal ball says) and changed their "Pay twice as much money for a device as it's competitors and only use it the ways we tell you that you can use it because it still belongs to us" attitude then they may have a chance. Not likely to happen with Apple though.
Darko, they've been using the exact same handset for three straight releases...
The Hero is an awesome phone, with some great possibilities for the future. If anyone has an Android phone, there was a new version of the OS released recently.
No need to apologise, silly girl. It's the analysts that get on my tits. They come in and say "Right, this company is selling twice as many phones as they were last year while the market leader is selling the same amount. That means that in five years time they'll have sold more." They assume that one year of doubled sales means that every year the sales will double, and that, as the market leader only sold the same amount they will never increase sales. Using that quite frankly stupid logic they predict the future with less accuracy than your average bedroom tarot-reading teenager.

I don't have the Hero but the G1 is nice. We just got the Doughnut 1.6v. Now we have file transfer over blue tooth. I had been missing being able to do that. Besides sync, now I can print to my Kodak printer by BT. The Windows based phone was great while I was working because we used the Microsoft apps and Outlook. Now that I am retired, I find Google works well for me and the Android is Google based. The apps for it are getting better all the time. We do some geocaching and the app we use pulls the coordinates from the web page, turns on the GPS, leads us straight to our find with "radar" and maps, post our field notes to the site, and tweets that we have found it... seamlessly. You can find a free app for just about anything you want to do. On the downside, we don't have the mimi5 beta yet. If anyone hears about it being ported to the Android, let me know. It feels more like a little netbook. Slower, yeah. I think I prefer the G1 to the My Touch just because it does have a hard keyboard. Then again, it's not the phone, it's how well you utilize it. Right, Mik?
BTW: If you just have to have an iPhone, there is a app for that. Well, a theme really, that makes it look like the iPhone interface and icons.
Yeah, I actually find that quite shady as the HTC guys started legal proceedings to stop Blackberries, iPhones and Palm Pre's having a theme that mimics the Hero's Sense UI.
The problem I have with the latest generation of smartphone is that they rely heavily on third party applications to do what should be part of the phone to start with. The old UIQ phones had everything most people would need on-board out of the box and third party apps were only used to streamline users experiences, or for hardcore users to get more from their phone. These days they seem to miss things out specifically so people will visit the on-device App Stores.
