The Dark Furie

This Is War

,

Mobile version here. The song is This Is War, a currently unreleased track by 30 Seconds To Mars that will debut in the game.

You all know I've been drooling over Dragon Age: Origins for a while now and, while it got it's US release today, I'll be getting it as soon as it's out in this country on Friday (and I'll see you all about 800 waking hours later if the hype is correct about this). This video shows off the beautiful graphics, the high review scores and glowing quotes from those reviews, as well as giving a taste of what the designers are aiming for. Should this game meet my expectations for it the bar for video games will have been raised considerably and my human mage will be turning into a giant bug to poison the next dragon I meet.

For a second it looks like characters are real people left Then I realised it is all animation left

Pretty isn't it? Kind of epic feeling too. I've been watching this game for five years now so hopefully it wont let me down on Friday. Having said that, the reviews all seem to have my first impression of it which is pretty much "Wow!".

Rose, when you start the game and create a new character, that character gets one of six unique origin stories that starts them off somewhere unique and colours the entire game. Different characters in the game will react differently and offer different rewards and quests, if any, as well as like you more, be racist towards you, etc. On top of these differences each quest in the game has multiple ways to deal with it which in turn affect the rest of the game and how people view you. Bioware have stated that the story is 20 hours long, the game can last 50-80 hours when doing all sidequests, and discovering every single thing in the game will take 800 hours, but some of that'll be multiple playthroughs going through stuff you've already seen. However, with a two year commitment to DLC I'm expecting this game to last quite a while anyway.

Hey Dee. To be honest I'm not really a fan of them usually, but I love this song. Leto's a good actor though. Much respect to him for the commitment he puts into his roles. I think the album is out December 8th by the way but, from your page I'd guess you know that already. lol It amazes me that videogames are getting exclusives to songs a month before the album is out. Really validates them as a new art form in line with movies and literature.

Cool "trailer", and the effects match the song perfectly. I understand you're looking forward to it coming out. And don't worry - I'll rule Furtopia while you game...

Dark FurieFurie Wednesday, November 4, 2009 1:20:50 PM

Good good. I've set up the throne specially for you. Ignore the timer on it, that's just to ensure my return to power. up

KittyliciousZaphira Wednesday, November 4, 2009 1:21:52 PM

Tsss... as if I need a throne to rule... rolleyes

r♡serose-marie Wednesday, November 4, 2009 2:23:29 PM

Especially when it's really a toilet... left

Dark FurieFurie Wednesday, November 4, 2009 6:21:09 PM

The throne is the only place the virus wont get you. up It's also the only place where the Furtopian people will recognise your authority over them while I'm away saving a different world.

Toilet Rose? I think you ate too many rich people brains over halloween if you count my bejewelled and cushioned seat as a toilet. bigeyes

r♡serose-marie Wednesday, November 4, 2009 7:56:20 PM

Those... droppings... are considered jewels in Furtopia? left

Dark FurieFurie Wednesday, November 4, 2009 8:49:36 PM

Yeah, just like the currency of Catfiania. up Of course, we're human so ours are bigger. yes

Cleanclean Wednesday, November 4, 2009 9:04:21 PM

Hey, Mik. What's that you're building? Why, it looks like some sort of huge catapult. And what's that you're loading in there? And why is the catapult aimed for Catfiania?

Dark FurieFurie Wednesday, November 4, 2009 9:35:03 PM

I'm sharing the wealth. up

KittyliciousZaphira Thursday, November 5, 2009 7:27:39 AM

@ David ~ any word including "cat" is something friendly to me. So, don't let his catapult fool you one bit. It's only going to hit himself. Hard. devil

Cleanclean Thursday, November 5, 2009 8:27:01 AM

lol

Not quite the catastrophe I'd thought, then? wink

*runs off, checking his pocket-watch*

theoddbod Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:08:45 PM

It's a good game. A little shorter than I'd hoped, but very replayable and with a solid committment to downloadable content that'll boost it to at least twice the size over three years. If you want a better experience from it, ignore gifts apart from when they're expressly asked for and visit camp often, at least on your first playthrough. That way you run the risk of losing/killing party members due to your choices.

Things like that can be downloaded now? bigeyes

Dark FurieFurie Saturday, November 21, 2009 10:20:42 AM

They've promised two years worth of downloadable content so it's not going to be all at once. So far we've got a few item packs, a new companion character complete with new quests and areas, and a new fortress complete with main quest, side quests and a Superman reference. They've just announced a new one that takes you back into a place you start the game in but can't usually return to, with new quests there that deepen the story of the place. Each of the packs like that add more to the story as well as a load of random encounter mini-missions that can occur between areas and at least one new or redesigned map area. That's before they get onto the full sized expansions and quest packs for the factions, so even with minimal support it'll get twice as much content at least.
