The Dark Furie

Christmas Idea - Dream Of Flying

I love my bed. It's where I do most of my favourite things. If it were up to me I wouldn't get out of bed and the mattress would be covered in chicken bones and discarded cardboard buckets as I bring yet another favourite thing into bed with me. It's fitting that all I want for Christmas is a new bed. This one to be exact.

Designed by Janjaap Ruijssenaars, the bed contains a sea of magnets that let it float, enough magnets that it can easily hold up to 900 kilograms (1,984 pounds) without being weighed down, and is connected to the corners of a room by four cables which stop it moving away during "invigorated movements". At only 1.2 million euros, this bed is a bargain and I know my loyal readers will band their resources together to help me live the lifestyle I deserve. It is Christmas, after all.

Invigorated movements, eh? sherlock

It is cool that there'll be no more dustbunnies under the bed. bigsmile

Magnets? Then presumably there's something in the floor to cause the vertical repulsion?
Anyway, if it's too tightly tethered to move, the floatiness seems a bit redundant p

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, December 17, 2009 5:40:01 PM

Who cares? I'm gonna be Alladin. yes

Darkogdare Thursday, December 17, 2009 6:34:26 PM

Just be aware that if you take anything made of iron/steel in your pockets, you will end up pinned to the bed until someone comes to rescue lol

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 17, 2009 6:54:55 PM

Probably not a good idea for someone with steel balls. p.
It would be one helluva engineering feat to get that design working. left.
I assume the price includes the requisite custom installation? p!

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Thursday, December 17, 2009 7:15:46 PM

€1.2m for a bed. €1.2m.

Spaggyj Thursday, December 17, 2009 7:25:25 PM

I don't like it scared

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 17, 2009 7:52:11 PM

Sorry Mik. But everyone knows that it's the lady of the house that gets to choose the furniture. p.

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, December 17, 2009 8:08:59 PM

Don't be so sexist! mad I have excellent taste in furniture. Now get ya wallet out.

Mad Scientistqlue Thursday, December 17, 2009 8:17:44 PM

You can have my wallet. But I think it would cost you less to buy a brand new one closer to you than to have this one mailed to you. p.
And remember, with the exchange rate, my whole salary is only barely more than what you get. left.

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Thursday, December 17, 2009 8:23:13 PM

I don't even get paid in Euro. What kind of primitives don't use the Euro bigeyes

r♡serose-marie Thursday, December 17, 2009 8:54:30 PM

But... how will the bottom sheet stay in place?!

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, December 17, 2009 9:01:04 PM

I'll take whatever you've got guys. up.

Didn't you read the weight limit Rose? If I eat everything I plan to this Christmas the bed wont be able to hold a sheet as well as me. yes

r♡serose-marie Thursday, December 17, 2009 9:15:51 PM

lol
Maybe you could throw the chicken bones on the floor instead!

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, December 17, 2009 9:45:31 PM

Blasphemer! mad

Mad Scientistqlue Friday, December 18, 2009 3:52:36 AM

Add a few helium filled balloons? whistle.

Cleanclean Friday, December 18, 2009 11:20:08 AM

At that price, your only choice is a waterbed ...

Dark FurieFurie Friday, December 18, 2009 11:30:38 AM

I can't be around helium balloons. o I have a "problem" with them.

How does water float? confused

Mad Scientistqlue Friday, December 18, 2009 4:13:09 PM

Your Mickey Mouse voice comes out? left.

Dark FurieFurie Friday, December 18, 2009 4:53:25 PM

Diabolical Saturday, December 19, 2009 9:54:48 AM

Dacotah Sunday, December 27, 2009 11:20:04 AM

Sorry, no donation here.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, December 27, 2009 3:06:51 PM

You do realise that part of the living in sin that we've been doing involves sleeping in the same bed? rolleyes

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Sunday, December 27, 2009 4:40:44 PM
