Working On My Blog Theme
Wednesday, November 26, 2008 1:10:00 PM
As you can see, the menu seems to have been oddly affected by the recent update. I've almost got it back to normal in Opera and Firefox now, but Internet Explorer is being stubborn.

It is indeed white text on a white background.

As for the gap between the banner and the page content it seems that both Opera and IE are doubling up the space I define for the menu... There's nothing in my code or MyOpera's code that should make it do that. I've replaced things bit by bit and nothing changes.

And now I also see the infamous gap.

It could be that I'm misunderstanding what you are trying to describe, so here is a nice large image showing what Moesring sees (1280x920 - 116KB).

Lower down on the page I can see a background that says "The Dark Furie" in white lettering on a black background, and scrolls down the page as I do (ie a fixed background). I don't remember seeing that before.
Unfortunately, at the top of the page, it is behind the other backgrounds and so is not visible.

There seems to be a chunk of back background with the text "The Dark Furie" following the scrolling underneath the comments (only visible between them), and the sidebar making that unreadable.

That said, I'll let my Dragonfly loose here some time soon and see what it can scoop up.

And while you're at it, spread the word about Zaphira For Best Feline/Female Blog. Turns out I'm too lazy to campaign after all.

I tried a ugly positioning hack. I positioned #content further up. But that somehow borks the menu.
I think there's some kind of padding or margin value that's causing it. But I haven't been able to find it yet.
I have the exact same problem with my White is Fun theme. I'll try to solve the problem tomorrow.
Dark FurieFurie # Wednesday, November 26, 2008 10:27:27 PM
As for the padding. It seems to be a priority problem. I move the menu into the y-axis instead of the x-axis and it pushes the content down. When I move the menu up it doesn't reset the content though. Tried rearranging my code to see if the priorities were there but that didn't work. Also, none of this affects the way the page shows on Opera Mini despite having the same rendering agent as Opera desktop.
I'm so out of my depth with this now. Still, I'll have my nice, simple Xmas theme up soon and time to fix this one without fucking my page up even more.

I didn't give you any Heinekin. Just wanted to see if I'd be disqualified for buying votes.

Having said that, I learned a few things that will help me with my next big update for this page. Gonna have to get some images together on the PC for that, and test some new coding before everything's ready. But afterwards the menu wont be a problem at all.
