The Maine - The Way We Talk EP

The Maine is a new indie band that I have discovered recently, following the release of Punk Goes Crunk, where they do a spectacular cover of Akon's I Wanna Love You.
The Way We Talk is a great EP. Five songs of indie pop-rock gold. Think The Click Five's latest stuff, but with a dash of electro-pop (or something to that effect). Most of this EP may seem pretty generic on the surface, but if you take the time to listen, you'll realize that it is, in fact, awesome. The first track is called If I Only Had The Heart, and is my favorite song off of the EP. It is catchy and well done. It sounds a bit like the rest of the indie rock out there, but the vocals really make it shine.
Next up is the title track, The Way We Talk. It's another one of those songs about a girl that every guy wants to date but she is to intimidating and therefore doesn't get asked out or goes out with everyone and that's nasty. The song appears to be from three different POVs. The first one is teling a friend not to ask the girl out, because it isn't worth it. The second is telling the girl she needs to cut the crap because it's frustrating everyone. The last one seems to imply that the singer dated her and ended up getting hurt.
Third track is called Give Me Anything. This track is great because rather than traditional drums, it uses some kind of synth-electro drum set. It gives the song a great sound that separates it from the rest of the EP.
Track four, titled We Change, We Wait is another solid track, and again the vocals shine.
The final track, The Town's Been Talking, closes out the EP with great guitar work. It is excellent. It is such an overall great track, it leaves you wanting more of The Maine when you're done.
On a scale of 1 to 5, this EP weighs in at a super number 4.
It is a great first release for the band, and we can only anticipate what will come in the future.
