Currently Listening to: Southern Weather by The Almost

I got a thing in the mail recently that said that there was a youth conference up in Smithfield, April 16-18, for $39. I disregarded it, because I didn't think much of it. There was a band there, but I hadn't heard of them, and some speakers I hadn't heard of before.

A few days later, the piece of mail is forgotten, buried on my desk under a digital camera, a Bible, and a geography book. I had just watched the latest Bullet For My Valentine video, and I told a friend that "I'd like metal music if it weren't for the screaming and the demonic undertones."

He suggests I check out The Almost, led by UnderOATH drummer and background vocalist, Aaron Gillespie. I get the album Southern Weather and The Almost instantly shoots up to the top of my bands list.

Yesterday.

I find the paper I got in the mail. Aaron Gillespie was at the conference, and I believe along with Jamie Tworkowski, the founder of To Write Love On Her Arms.

Well crap.

I wish I had gone. sad
