My Summer Story

So, the great folks here at MyOpera are holding a little contest. We (the users) write a blog post summing up our summer of 2008. I hope that you (my fellow users) find my summer story to be just interesting enough garner a vote! Hit the jump for the tale.
My summer started out just like any other ordinary summer for a teenager. I finished up my junior year of high school, saw some of my friends graduate, and had an enjoyable end of the school year. And then work began. As some of you know, I work at a local ice cream store. It is rarely a boring experience. Between the amount of work that we do, which is far more than you would think, to the strange customers that we get, it is probably the most interesting job in my town. Unfortunately the pay is lousy, considering all the employees are under the age of 22. Most of my summer has been given over to this establishment, and as a result I lost a life. Gaming humor. I'm such a nerd.
In late June, I turned seventeen. To celebrate, I went to my first R-rated movie. Wanted was a good flick about a secret organization of assassins. Morgan Freeman was excellent as usual. The ending was sort of odd but overall I think it was a very good first experience into the world of R-rated films.
I earned the ability to drive (Agility +45 Vehicle of Wonder) over the winter, and can now travel to my local Starbucks. This summer I went nearly everyday and have become a tool to the establishment. You gotta try it out man. It's totally rad man. I have bought albums, mugs, mints, drinks, planners, all sorts of things there. It is wonderful!
In August a youth group from a church in Maryland came up to visit my church. I basically fell in platonic love with these kids. We had such a blast the one week that they were up here, that we are already making plans to do road trips and things with them. We had a lock-in one night at the church and we found out that people start getting irritable at around three in the morning. Not the best time I have ever had, but we played some stupid games and stuff. One of them I didn't even bother trying to do. I had to put nylons on while wearing gardening gloves. And I was blindfolded. What sort of game is that? But luckily, people took pictures and I was able to see just how stupid I look with a blindfold on.For the remaining weeks of summer, I worked nearly every day. I am now exhausted indefinitely, but I got a promotion out of all my hard work. I am now a Manager and and nothing has really changed at all. I do the same stuff, except I got a small pay increase. I have tried to mentally prepare myself for senior year, and the horrors that await me, but I am not yet sure if I have. I guess we will wait and see.

thanks for sharing the story!
