Be an Encourager!

Author Ron Dunn tells the true story of two altar boys. One was born in
1892 in Eastern Europe. The other was born just three years later in a
small town in Illinois (USA). Though their lives were quite different,
these two boys shared a similar experience.

Each altar boy assisted his parish priest in the celebration of Mass.
While handling the chalice during Holy Eucharist, they both
accidentally spilled some of the wine on the carpet.

But this is where their stories diverge. The priest in the Eastern
European church, seeing the purple stain, slapped the altar boy across
the face and shouted, "Clumsy oaf! Leave the altar." He did. The
little boy grew up to become the atheist and communist dictator of
Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito.

The priest in the church in Illinois, upon seeing the wine stain,
knelt down beside the boy and looked him tenderly in the eyes and
said, "It's all right, son. You'll do better next time. You'll be a
fine priest for God someday." That little boy grew up to become the
much loved Bishop Fulton J. Sheen.

We will never know how much a kind and encouraging word from the
priest, or the lack of one, influenced these boys' lives. But kindness
and instruction are always far more valuable than anger and criticism.

Encouragement works. smile

The List

The List

Do you have anything to be thankful for? In his classic novel Robinson Crusoe, author Daniel Defoe has shipwrecked Crusoe take inventory of his life. He makes two lists. One is a list of his problems. The other is an inventory of that for which he can give thanks.

A problem he writes is that he has no clothing. On his corresponding list he writes that the weather is warm and he really has little need for clothing. Another problem is that all of his provisions were lost at sea. But on the other list he writes that he has fresh fruit and water and can provide for himself. And so it goes. He lists his problems and likewise lists all that he has going for him. He is surprised at the size of the list of his assets.

How long would your list be if you took inventory of your blessings - all of that for which you can give thanks? For family. For friends. For faith. For health and the necessities of life. Did you know that some one million people will die this week...how is your health? Those who have food, clothing and shelter have more than much of our world's population will ever possess. Do you have these necessities of living?

How long would your list be if you took inventory of your blessings...and added one new item daily? Would you be amazed at the size of the list?

You have 1,440 minutes in every day. How would your life be different if you spent just 15 of those minutes daily giving thanks? Just 15 minutes filling your mind with concrete examples of how fortunate you are? Most of us would discover even after a few days that the exercise was life changing!

Poet Courtland Sayers put it this way:

"Five thousand breathless dawns all new;
One million flowers fresh in dew.
Five thousand sunsets wrapped in gold;
One million snowflakes served ice cold.
Five quiet friends, one baby's love;
One white sea of clouds above.
One June night in a fragrant wood;
One heart that loved and understood.
I wondered when I waked that day -
In God's name - how could I ever pay?"

Christian mystic Meister Eckhart said, "If the only prayer you say in your whole life is 'thank you,' that would suffice." I suspect he is right.

How to Find Hidden MSG on Food Labels

It is very difficult to really know whether MSG (monosodium glutamate) is in your food, because it goes by so many aliases. To avoid ingesting this toxic additive, you’re best off choosing fresh, unprocessed foods. But becoming familiar with the hidden names of MSG can also help you determine what foods to eat.

Here is just a sampling of ingredients that contain MSG (the link below has a full list):

* Gelatin
* Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP)
* Yeast Extract
* Malted Barley
* Rice Syrup or Brown Rice Syrup

Also, many restaurants add MSG to their menu items, so when eating out always be sure to tell your server that you don't want MSG added to your food.

LIVE WITH GUSTO!!!

And don't let opportunities slip by ...

"While there's everything to be said for living a life of integrity and goodness, balance and moderation, service and love — here I want to talk about life as CELEBRATION.

Each of us is born equipped for pleasure, for enjoyment. That's basic design, no argument. The news flash, folks, is that sensuality — the art of enjoying the pleasures of the senses — is not only a good thing, it's a VERY good thing. We can embody both correctness and joie de vivre.

As we carry out the duties of the day, we can have fun with sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. There's a whole array of possibilities for living with pleasurable appreciation.

Don't let those opportunities slip by. Regret, I'm here to tell you, is one mangy, ill-tempered dog that's best kept outdoors.

How many of us are able to live fully, enriching our days with satisfying experiences, accumulating warm memories that will keep through the winter of our lives? We all can pull from our pasts those special events once embraced and wonderfully absorbed, then permanently recorded for future delightful replay.

Who has not taken deep pleasure from a sound snooze, a sumptuous meal, an especially memorable interpersonal romp?

For those who believe in an eternal existence, life can be viewed as a dress rehearsal for the hereafter. Are we proving our worthiness by being open to life's pleasures? Are we able to recognize that life is many things, but that it is also succulent? Do we know how to enjoy and have fun? (And for those who believe this is all there is: Get it while you can!)

Anyone can be miserable — there's no talent in that. Anyone can live a dull and unimaginative life.

Whether proactively or by opportunity, our task — should we choose to accept it — is to live with gusto. As we proceed through life, let us do so with playful deliberation, with a twinkle in our eyes and a bounce in our steps.

We need to relish the moments we've been given. Are we up to the challenge?"

Tips for loving life, even when you get stressed!

By Roger King

· Be in nature at least once a day, even if it’s seeing a flower on your desk!

· Say "thank you" a lot — even when you cry!

· Sing in the shower or while you drive or walk!

· Live BENEATH your means.

· Choose loving and positive thoughts at every opportunity — you will then attract much more love.

· Be forgiving of others and yourself, especially when you are learning something new.

· Treat people you meet in the way you want to be treated.

· Do your best not to criticize or gossip — it breaks down your spirit.

· Make new friends and nourish old friends.

· Do things in the home without being told or complaining.

· Cease blaming others and take your power back.

· Let people pull in front of you when driving or waiting in a line or queue.

· Find ways that you ENJOY — to get and stay in shape.

· Be willing to laugh and play, children will love you!

· Appreciate finding and playing music or find great music and play it on a good stereo.

· Make sure you put dance time into your weekly routine, even in the kitchen!

· If you have a partner, really listen to them. If no partner just choose to be open to attracting one!

· Avoid any lawsuit if possible; it will help you live a much longer and happier life.

· Bless the day gently when you wake up and when you go to bed.

· Watch and listen to the news only occasionally, people will often tell you bad news.

· Send love to tough situations in the world ... instead of judgements.

· See how good can come out of so-called evil situations.

· Meditate daily by just closing your eyes and sitting comfortably. Then ask: “What is it I need to learn and give?” Be patient the answers will come!

· Tell those who are close to you “I love YOU!”

· When you feel you’re really down in the dumps, buy a lovely bunch of flowers ... and if someone asks, “Are those for me?” ... give them away, and THEN see how you feel!

· Take holidays and then re-live them in your mind and with the people you went with, it is so precious.

· Cook and make meals with love to nourish love.

· Radiate love to yourself in the mirror each day, by saying, “I love and approve of you!” You will then attract and give love to all you meet.

· Remember that the invisible spiritual laws of attraction govern everything. Whatever you choose to think and say creates your moment-to-moment experience!

· Know that when life is tough there is always something to learn and know ... and to give to and receive from your soul.

Tips for Creating the Future You Want Your thoughts, feelings, and words are constantly creating your future. If you are practicing affirmations in the morning, but negating them the rest of the day, your future will be the same as your present is now! Practice the QuickTips below and welcome positive changes into your life! 1. When you wake up in the morning, notice what you're thinking and feeling about the day ahead of you. Are you excited about it or dreading it? Regardless of your situation, you can choose a positive focus. 2. Focus your energy in the moment. Too often people spend a lot of time lamenting the past and feeling anxious about the future. Trust yourself and the flow of life. 3. Stop criticizing yourself about anything! Accept who you are and where you are right now. Criticism and guilt keep you locked in old patterns. 4. Let go of: What ifs..... I should...... Why didn't I? And any other words that disempower you. 5. Consciously think about what you want and KNOW that anything is possible. When Rick and I decided to move from a small condo, the homes we were looking at were almost a million dollars, not in our budget at the time! But we kept affirming and were led to a fantastic home on 7 acres that cost nowhere near a million. 6. Create enthusiastic affirmations for the future you want. Say them, think them, sing them, and say them in the mirror. The more focused you are on what you want, the faster the Law of Attraction will work to bring you what you want. 7. Take a few minutes each morning and each evening to visualize the life you want. Fill in all the details and FEEL them being a reality. 8. Stop criticizing others. After all, you created them in your life! 9. Spend time with like-minded people — so you can receive support for a positive viewpoint on life. 10. And remember- you are here for a purpose. The jigsaw puzzle of life is not complete without you, and the Universe wants to support you to achieve your dreams.

Just a Random Thought....

Listening to a TV talk show as I was cleaning my floors....just had this thought....

The way I see it is that nasty comments or put downs that someone says when speaking to you (or writing to you) only reflect on the person who said it/wrote it, not who they’re aimed at. Just be gracious (the only way to be in life!) & say a little prayer for THEM, that they heal from whatever is inside of themselves that makes them act this way....maybe they suffer from poor self-image, and the only way to lift themselves up is to put others down....and maybe that poor self-esteem came from their past...perhaps someone they loved did this to them in life...and that is a very sad thought....that shouldn't happen to anyone. So, really, they are to be pitied. That is probably the matter and they are not "being mean" on purpose. They are probably wounded inside, and this is how they react to that...and they may not even know it.

What do you think??

This Month's Visiting Countries....

Interesting Stats this month on GoPiet!

Viewers this month have been from these countries. I still think it is funny how I made the site strictly to stay in touch w/ what is "the news" here in Texas to our far-away family...and, yet, strangers keep coming across the site. China seems to check in monthly. Who in China is reading this? Hmmm.

90.65% United States United States
5.61% United Kingdom United Kingdom
0.93% Belgium Belgium
0.93% United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates

Today and Saturday we are insanely busy moving items from garage to storage unit (miss our TRUCK!!!). We have to finish our paperwork (about 1-2 hours). Also, oddly, our appraisal paperwork (on the sq. footage of the house) was never given to us. It is wrong on the original tax records (probably what the builder reported orginally as having planned to build, but then he upped the size?). We need the updated correct paper for it to advertise correctly....so, we have to try to contact the title company and see if they can dig it up as they should have it. Just a pain in the butt as we don't have the time. Jim is very busy w/ training classes (training trainers).

Last night I did get to "clear out" (taper down to what we REALLY use and need) the kitchen cabinets....I don't need 10,000 pieces of Tupperware, so that is almost all packed up now....I kept a few nice Coffee cups (only use 2 daily!)...chose my Starbucks cups. Cleared out the tea/coffee cabinet...it is so neat and nice now (placed all our million of condiment packs and hotel coffee packs away in a differ area). Anyhow, stuff like that. Must, again, go through the pantry and place everything in the right order (as labeled) and it will look better. Kids just toss everything "in" with reckless abandon bigsmile...I'll have to get on them to knock it off.

I really want to go through our medicine cabinet (it is the size of a regular door in height and about 12 inches deep and about 5 inches wider on each side of the door, inside...so it is big). We have never cleaned it out since we moved here. I want to go through and make it look clearer and also not have all our old meds on display for all to view bigsmile. I'm sure there are many expired things as well. bigsmile

It's been a BIG BLESSING not having Babyboo here underfoot and again THANKS BEEBIE AND DAN!!! When we move , we can again help you when you need it while traveling. We'll have to find somewhere else for her after we pick her up in late Aug. The vet is nice, but at 30 bucks a day, it is too much....a waste of money. I remember one vacation we went on cost us 500.00 on pet storage alone...and that just was a shame to have to spend that on those dogs instead of perhaps the kids!! bigsmile

Sunday is the first day it'll be on the market...so, hopefully, we will have showings this week.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Remember to check out Andy's Benefit link on the right sidebar down there (on this website). If you can make a donation of any sort: cash or item(s) to raffle off (gift baskets?) or get donations from stores, companies,etc...please do!! The benefit is creeping up and everything helps!!! smile Thank you!

Hope you have a phenomenal day!

XO,

Kelly
