And what's your favourite SF novel?

John Scalzi, author of Old Man's War (2005), recommends 3 books in a recent blog post for The Barnes & Noble Review. One is Winter's Tale, a beautiful modern fantasy by Mark Helprin, the other A Mencken Chrestomathy by H. L. Mencken, and the last Always Coming Home, a SF novel by Ursula K. Le Guin.
