Surviving Life (Theory and Practice) Přežít svůj život (Teorie a praxe), the so far last film directed by a living legend Jan Švankmajer (76), received standing ovations at the Venice Film Festival.
Psychoanalysis, surrealism, humour, irony, grotesque... plus typical stop-motion animation of both actors and objects meet in this philosophical comedy about psychoanalysis, dreams, love, and the eternal question how to survive one's life. IMDb 8/10.
Actress Daniela Bakerová (on the photo in the role of psychoanalyst Dr. Holubová with her patient Evžen played by Václav Helšus) is the Daniela mentioned in the famous song Morituri te salutant by Karel Kryl (on his Bratříčku, zavírej vrátka, 1968, album). It's the line "...Seržante písek je bílý jak paže Daniely..." (...Sergeant, the sand is as white as the arms of Daniela...) that made her immortal.
