Watch the MacBook thieves (or 'new users') on the webcam
Friday, July 15, 2011 9:13:50 PM

This is one of the four people (2 men, 2 women) who can be seen by the webcam of the stolen MacBook
Lukáš K. (22) got his Prague flat forcefully entered and many valuables stolen at the end of June. One of the stolen items was also his MacBook. While the police are trying to find the perps, Lukáš managed to connect to his MacBook, activated the webcam and follows the thieves or people who bought the stolen notebook.
All this is described in his blog at http://macbookintruder.posterous.com
Follow the progress of this live action story. Will the police catch the thieves?
The full story, in Czech, is here.
Similar case in the USA and use of Hidden sw for Mac computers was covered on Žive.cz server in June, more, in Czech, here.
Postcript: Sunday, 17 July, 2011: It seems that the notebook will be back. See Lukáš's blog.
Update: Monday, 18 July 2011: The notebook was reportedly returned to the police by someone of the 4 people (family), one of them claiming he bought the [stolen] notebook from a friend for 11,000 Kč (dirt cheap for a MacBook). The real owner now faces possible accusation for presenting indecent photos of the 'new owners' and so attacking their privacy. Omg! What a topsy turvy view of rightfulness! More summary, in Czech, at novinky.cz and also at zive.cz.
Update: Monday, 25 July 2011. No new info. Check out the blog.

Bit odd that they haven't managed to catch their real names, or at least online nicknames, because it said on the news report that they had seen them using email.

Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking now-a-days. They seem to think that stealing things is better than going out an buying the items themselves. This is plain idiocy on their part. Stealing something only gets them in trouble, and causes other problems in the process.
And, the way kids are raised now-a-days, you can't even control them as parents, due to all the new laws concerning child rearing. When will the world get back to its roots and start letting parents rear their kids as they should be reared instead of the way the "government" seems to think that children should be raised.
If this was my child/teen/pre-adult that did this chit, I'd be having his arse thrown in jail myself. People have no sense of other peoples feelings anymore.
