Album of the week - "Making Movies" by Dire Straits

, ,

If you mention Dire Straits to most people they will immediately think of the songs Money For Nothing, or perhaps Walk Of Life from their monster album, Brothers In Arms. While that album was good, it simply wasn't nearly as good as their two previous albums, Making Movies and Love Over Gold. Making Movies was released in 1980 after the departure of Mark Knopfler's brother, David who was a guitarist on the band's first two albums. Making Movies was less rootsy and a little more bold. The songs tended to be a little more epic in scale, and told more of a story. A quick glimpse at the track listing reveals many of Dire Straits' best-loved songs. [Digitally Remastered]
