La Liga Habanera de Base-Ball de 1905.

This is a print-to-cards set only, made as Basic (hybrid).

Baseball caught on in Cuba in the 19c, so by the time local organized leagues took root (albeit on a very moderate scale) the Cubans had become very good ball players. Cubans have always loved their beisbol.

This is based on the superb research work of Gary Ashwill, in whose debt all who enjoy this will find themselves.

This league, complete, comprises 3 teams, all local to the city of Havana, who would contest the city championship during the early 20th century. Almendares, Fé, and Habana.

The game was all pitching. Runs were at a great premium and so there was quite the emphasis on players capable of handling the ball cleanly and crisply. The cost of a mistake in the field was dear.

The player names will be unfamiliar except to those acquainted with the Cincinnati ballclub of that decade, as Armando Marsans and Rafael Almeida were just starting their pro careers.

In the package you'll find the print sheets for the teams. (Ed said that he had no problem when printing 2 cards to a page, so that's how we've cropped the sheets.) Our choice of shading hopefully looks clean and nice, but you'll let us know if it gives trouble. Also inside the zip is a bit of info, the schedule and suggested lineups.

If you use it, then let us all know about it, please.
