My Touch Dual
Monday, 31. August 2009, 14:18:28
Thought I'd just waffle on about my HTC Touch Dual for a bit..
This is without question the most capable mobile device I've ever owned, and to my mind has an edge over more recent models as 1) it's not solely a touch phone - it has a slide-out keyboard for blogs, emails and texts which is the most rock-solid I've encountered, and 2) it's QVGA (240 X 320) which whilst not having the resolution of later VGA and WVGA devices, means that there's lots more software available for it.
But..
Take a look at the two images below.

Once you're past the touch-friendly, but deeply GREY homescreen, you're back into the bog-standard Windows Mobile user interface, and to choose your program you have to scroll down using the GREY scroll bar and when the device is idle it defaults to a blank GREY screen.
I'm not a big fan of GREY..
I've used Throttle Launcher to completely change the look and feel of the UI, this means that you have sweep finger access to all your programs and games of which more later. I've also installed Dockware Pro to give me a nice-looking screensaver. (see below)

You can do far more with Throttle Launcher than I've done here - add pages, widgets and all manner of things, instructions, help and support forums are available at the link above, and best of all it's FREE..
It's hard to convey how fluid and intuitive finger-scrolling through your programs becomes with Throttle Launcher installed in words, so check out the video preview below.
Also, if you're a big fan of things moving smoothly you really should install Opera Mobile 9.7 the best browser available for Windows Mobile - fast loading, smooth scrolling and just generally fabulous
Windows Mobile doesn't have to be dull...
