Sheikyerbouti by Frank Zappa
With such a vast body of work to choose from (over 80 releases) it is of course difficult to pick the definitive Zappa album, but for me, this pushes all the buttons. Vicious satirising of contemporary Americana, sideswipes at the Republican party, misogyny, fluid guitar and staggering musicianship (as usual).
Highlights include: 'Broken Hearts are for Assholes' and 'Bobby Brown'

John Peel

Arguably as great a loss to music as the very finest performer, the man was not only responsible for first making me aware (many years ago) that marvellous and often challenging music existed outside of the mainstream, but he retained his enthusiasm for exciting new acts throughout.
A true original and (literally) irreplaceable, Heaven has gained it's best DJ. Respect.
