The Begining of a new world of Odessa

Goldbug begins

The Dark Knight!

, , ,

"You can either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become one of them!"

The Dark Knight 12 out of 10!!!!

Away to do it all again tonight! My review will come soon!

THE DARK KNIGHT - FRIDAY 25TH JULY 2008 AND SATURDAY 26TH JULY 2008

, ,

The movie event of the decade is nearly upon us and I have now OFFICIALLY gone into a BAT frenzy over the DARK KNIGHT and I have tickets for both Friday and Saturday night.

I have wetted my appitite for this film by listening to the Hanz Zimmer/James Newton Howard film score for this film and my verdict is BRILLIANT 10 out of 10! Hanz's drums have never sounded better and the Joker signature theme is utter genius! I also purchase the soundtrack to Batman Begins a month ago which is just sooo good!

This is taken from Batman Begins - sensational!

I am going to lay it straight either The Dark Knight is going to be the movie of the decade or a huge disappointment....ponder even if it's as good as Batman Begins the Joker won't be the only guy with a smile on his face!

Perfect Roles

, , , ...

Genius casting of actors to play the parts which would be very hard to follow:

1 Christopher Reeve as SUPERMAN/CLARK KENT

2 James Earl Jones as the voice of DARTH VADER

3 Clint Eastwood as DIRTY HARRY

4 Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones Jnr

5 Allan Rickman as Prof Severus Snape

6 Sir Ian Mckellen as Gandalf the white/grey

7 Viggo Mortensen as Aragon/The King

8 Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/The Dark Knight

9 Clint Eastwood as the Man with no name

10 Roger Moore as Commander James Bond

The Dark Knight Trailer in LEGO!?!

The NEW DARK KNIGHT trailer in lego!

and the new DK trailer - awsome!

FILMS I HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR AT THE CINEMA - Mid July and pre Dark Knight update

, , , ...

As you may or may not know I am a cinema junkie and my cinema-holic tastes so far in mid July 2008 are...

WALL-E

Wow this is the best PIXAR/any CGI movie I have ever seen. Wall e is so cute and this is utter genius, some of the visuals beyond awsome and I love how they have introduced forground/background camera focussing tricks used in normal live action films into a CGI film - fantastic! What a build up to the Dark Knight great stuff oh and the soundtrack is fantastic love the Peter Gabriel song and the Michael Crawford Hello Dolly stuff! Watch the end credits they are very good!

The Greatest Animated film ever!

9 out of 10 for the film and 10 out of 10 for the Animation!

HANCOCK

Another good performance from Will Smith. I enjoyed this film, it was an interesting twist on the superhero idea. The first half of the film is the best and after the "twist plot change" it kinda lost the plot with the introduction of...(now that would spoil it!) Basically it went all transformers with things hitting eachother.....

THE HAPPENING

Wow 3 films in as many days but this was not such a good experience, this is not a great film and I recommend you wait until it comes on TV. The question is : WHO IS MAKING THE BLOODY WIND?!!!!

Basically it is a series events of people killing themselves because of some strange force in the trees and the one where the guy sets off the lawnmoer and lays down infront of it is just very very bad.

Mark Waulberg is a very good actor and is the best thing about this film.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

Marvel's masterplan moves quickly on from Iron Man to the much anticipated and much under promoted Hulk movie. I have seen this film twice now having seen it on Saturday afternoon and Thursday night preview. I will write a more detailed review soon but I did enjoy the film, maybe it isn't as good as Iron Man but I won't hold that against it. I think the set-up looks half decent and they have left things nicely open for another Hulk or the Avenger film. The CGI has been muchly talked about!

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE KRISTAL SKULL

8 out of 10

On my second visit to seeing the much hyped Indy4 film I have to admit I enjoyed it much more, maybe because my expectations had gone and I enjoyed it for what it was, a cracking adventure ride. I think Harrison Ford is great and the man who dominated 1980's blockbusters is truly back in the big time. I rate Spielberg as one of the - if not, greatest directors ever!

IRON MAN

Wow I saw this 3 times at the cinema and can't stop raving - see my proper review for more information.

9.7 out of 10!!

FLASHBACKS OF A FOOL

Enjoyed this film very much and thought Daniel Craig played the lead very well. The film has many moral and life messages and is brilliantly shot. Check out the beach scenes they look awsome.

Rating 8.5 out of 10

VANTAGE POINT

I REALLY enjoyed this film, It feels different somehow, watching the events of the Presidential shooting from different view points and you are left teased waiting to find out the bigger picture as the final revelations are fantatsic. Well acted and a good cast. I look foward to the DVD.

Rating 8 out of 10

RAMBO

Bloody violent film that owes much visually to Saving Private Ryan. Maybe this film is Morally Bankrupt but I did laugh at the scenes where Sly gunned down 200 plus bad guys.

Rating 5 out of 10

JUMPER

I quite enjoyed this film and despite the critics (including the DOC KERMODE) I think this could be a good fanchise, the visuals were amazing.

Rating 6 out of 10

THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Film of 2008 so far, Daniel Day Lewis deserved his Best Actor gong at the Oscars and visually this film is sensational and I must watch it again.

Rating 9.5 out of 10

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

Stunning film and deserved Best Film gong at the Oscars. Probably my second favourite film of the year.

Rating 8.5 out of 10

SWEENY TODD

I enjoyed this film much more than I was expecting to. The music was excellent as well as the cast and Alana Rickman was in great form in this production.

Rating 7.5 out of 10

AVP 2 - REQUIEM

Nowhere near the original 4 Alien films or the first Predator film, but it was a bit of fun. HOWEVER THE ALIEN IN THE MATERNITY HOSPITAL SCENE WAS TAKING IT TOOOOO FAR!

Rating 4.5 out of 10

I AM LEGEND

Not bad but the zombie visuals are a bit weak but the empty new york sequences were impressive. WHAT WAS WITH THE BATMAN VS SUPERMAN poster?????? Will Smith was great and looking foward to the alternative ending dvd when it comes out.

KELLI WOLFE - BORN TO BE LOVED BY YOU

This is a shockingly good song and it is a scandel that I can't buy it....

Kelli Wolfe

Kelli Wolfe — vocal
Barry Gibb — vocal, guitar
Stephen Gibb — guitar
George Perry — bass
Lester Mendez — keyboards, programming
engineer:
producer: Barry Gibb and Scott Glasel
September 1990, Middle Ear, Miami Beach

BORN TO BE LOVED BY YOU
Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb (1990)
undated 1990
stereo 4:41, lead vocal Kelli Wolfe
unreleased B side, August 1993

Kelli Hartman, performing as Kelli Wolfe, was age 19 when Barry first heard her perform in Miami. He offered to sign her to Polydor. As she recalled in 1998, Barry first offered her ‘The Only Love’, but he then replaced it with a song he wrote specifically for her, ‘Born to Be Loved by You’. Kelli has a demo of it with just Barry on voice and guitar. The recording they made together features Barry’s son Steve, age 17, playing guitar, and backing vocals by Barry. Kelli dated it as September.

After recording this one track, Barry lost interest in recording Kelli, but characteristically he would not say so, and let her continue to visit Middle Ear over the next couple of years. Ultimately ‘Born to Be Loved by You’ was put on the B side of a Kelli Wolfe single in 1993, but it was withheld at the last minute after CD singles had been manufactured, and some copies of it were sent to radio stations and even accidentally sold.

IRON MAN FILM 2008 REVIEW

Iron Man

Marvel studios have come up with a cracker of a film which potentially sets things up nicely for the The Marvel Avengers being made into a film. You must stay to the very very very end of the closing credits to see what I mean. This film really excites me and already I want to see it again. Why am I raving so much - because I feel this film doesn't make the same mistake many recent superhereo films make by being predictable and formule. The film opening is fantastic within the first 5 minutes we are treated to a flashback with some aswome iconic Tony Stark magazine covers, trust me they look great!

The Advengers is a superhero team that appear in the fictional Marvel Universe. The team, comprising existing Marvel characters variously created by writer-editor Stan Lee, artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby and others, first appeared in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963).

Tagged by the company as "Earth’s Mightiest Heroes", the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Almost from inception, however, the roster has been fluid - the Hulk departed [1] and Captain America joined the team within the first four issues of the series.[2] The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand - hence their famous cry of "Avengers Assemble!" The team has featured humans, robots, gods, aliens, supernatural beings and even former villains.

Anyway Robert Downey Jr is great as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. His performace is pretty good and he gives Tony Stark initially at the start of the film some depth. Watch out for him in the Incredible Hulk later in the summer playing Tony Stark (reference the above Avengers!) Maybe Jeff Bridges edges out Robert in this film, his creepy evil character Obadiah Stane left me on the edge of my seat. The truly amazing thing is the visuals the Iron Man and the Iron Monger suits look amazing and the Transformers esque scene at the end is better than anything in the Transformers film - at least you can make out what the hell is going on and the CGI/Human mix scenes are flawless, no dodgy looking bad CGI here, the CGI is truly awsome! Check out when Jeff Bridges is seen inside the open Iron Monger suit it does look very realistic! I look foward to Iron Man 2 in 2010. It is also refreshing that the "girlfriend" in peril scene is done differently for a change, reference Spiderman where Mary Jane is set up as the trap (hostage) to snare Spiderman in all 3 films. (By the way Spiderman 2 is FANTASTIC!) This doesn't happen this time, ok the girl (Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia ‘Pepper’ Potts) is subjected to peril but it feels different and strangely more REALISTIC! Terrence Howard is great too and he provides some humour to the proceedings and we will see him again in Iron Man 2 but I won't give that plot away!!!

I give this blockbuster, the first of the summer a decent 9 out of 10!!!! Loved it, roll on Indiana Jones 4 in two weekes.

TRIP TO THE BORDERS AND A QUICK STOP IN PRINCES STREET EDINBURGH 5th MAY 2008
