I am always two steps behind with everything, when I finally got SKY TV they had already introduced SKY PLUS and SKY HD! I just thought I'd get with it this time. Close encouters is a film it is about time I sat down and watched it properly and I thought getting it on HD Blu-ray format would be exciting!

I also pre-ordered on standard HMV exclusive version of Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the krystal skull (Due out in November) because it's in a steel case, which sounds funky! Although for a few extra quid I could have had the blu-ray edition. I think the great advantage of blu-ray over some previous formats is that you don't have to replace/throw out you existing collection because blu-ray plays standard DVDs and also enhances the resolution anyway! I have to add that at the moment buying blu-ray discs in-store is a rip off in the UK with HMV and Zavvi charging £20-25 quid for a disk while you can shade many many pounds off buying online. I think these shops need to get a grip!:bomb:

You bought a Blu-ray version of an old film??? You MUG! How are they going to magically provide all the extra content in a film resolution that CANNOT be any better than standard DVD! You may as well save a few quid and get the DVD, mate - there'll be nothing on that disc that you can't get elsewhere.

There's a special edition cut?

...still not worth it...possibly...:right:

GoldBug 29. August 2008, 12:59

It was only £12.99 anyway I paid a lot more for the Blade Runner set on normal DVD so it's not that bad, think the Close Encounters box contains a book and pictures etc I think. It's time I sat down and watched this film properly as it is a classic that desreves to be viewed properly! :eyes:
