Too tired for pronouns

Am tired after two days of debauchery, so this will be short.

Vietnamese food is, by Saigon standards, not noticeably different from Chinese fare found in other local establishments. In fact, some of the starters were IDENTICAL. Suspect collusion and 'menu-fixing' between Aberdeen's Asian contingent (You heard it here first)(but probably never again).

Had lots of fun, despite earlier misgivings. Our two new agency colleagues blossomed, Polish Michael (real name hidden to protect your faith in my ability to spell foreign names) in particular overcoming a severe, unfathomable case of office-shyness to become perhaps the most animated person I've ever seen. And Stuart was chatty and personable in his pink shirt. Michael kindly ordered his girlfriend out of her cosy home to shuttle us all home at the end of the evening, too, saving all a tiring walk in the winter cold. Thank you, Michael, and bless your fine and biddable lady who could teach local women a thing or two about how to respect their Lord and Master...

Our trio of visitors were disarmingly friendly and made all of us feel very welcome. Tried to hate them, but to no avail. The Sales Manager, Joe, was born for his role - loud and talking constantly - and held court over the evening in a manner very similar to the Spirit of Christmas Present from the seminal Muppet version of A Christmas Carol ("Come in, and know me better, man!") with a verve and humour befitting that laurel-wreathed God of Hospitality. An interesting man, but possibly not over a prolonged exposure. His companions, by contrast, were quieter sorts, but also seemed genial enough.

Was paid a lovely compliment by Suzanne regarding my weight loss, despite boring her rigid with it since January. Was very touched and propinquitously managed to repay her with a bar of chocolate today, inspired by her very female desire to win the world's most luxurious Easter egg.

Tiny Asian dinner bowls are the way of the future. I had several helpings but at no point felt like I'd eaten too much.

Leaving work early today, can't concentrate any more. Sleep beckons, although would prefer not to repeat the bizarre dreams of last night. An invasion of weird and wonderful creatures all capable of terrifying me poopless. The curly-legged, six-sided, spider-like thing that could float on water like a lilly-pad (with a horrible central mouth) was especially inventive, hurrah for Granty's dream-time, but please don't come back.

Used the word 'propinquitously' in blogging today. Worried am becoming too pretentious.

G'night.

Thanks for the heads-up, man. I've reported his thieving ass to the site-authorities. Bloody cheek. :irked: But then again, they say that if you are going to steal you should steal from the best...P:

How did you find that?

I didn't know what propinquitously meant (still don't) so I highlighted the word, control-clicked (think macbook) to bring up the submenu and chose "dictionary". That took me to an answers.com page and the other entry was top of the list.

You might be able to trace them through the Statistics section of your Account page, or at least narrow it down. HitsLink provides some fairly detailed info and it looks like they posted their entry less than an hour after you posted yours.

Hmmm... I wonder if they have a MyOpera account.

(from Dictionary.com) "Propinquity"

1. nearness in place; proximity.
2. nearness of relation; kinship.
3. affinity of nature; similarity.
4. nearness in time.

I used it to mean that after Suzanne's comment, getting a chance to repay her so quickly (without making it obvious that I was doing so) was greatly appreciated.

It's a great word, isn't it? I love saying it. Again, thanks for letting me know about it. I owe a debt to your ignorance!

As for 'anwhite', given the time-frame you suggested I'm wondering if it's this guy: 90.210.170.250, who arrived from a Live search for 'Blue Chamber'. The rest are either known to me or are definitely outside the US (he claims to be from Iowa on his page). But that address seems to be from a UK-based ISP - Easynet, otherwise known as Sky Broadband. He could be based anywhere in the UK, though. I'll keep an eye out for any return visits...

HURRAH! The nasty evil work-stealing blog is no more! :hat:

solid copper 11. March 2008, 08:30

Why no more? This is the most interesting one, by the way. To me anyway.

GrantTLC 11. March 2008, 10:40

If you click the link in the top comment, you get to a page telling you the evil Blog no longer exists. Either the guy running it decided to call it quits or the site admins did that for him, either way - I WIN.

I see...so you like it when I'm telling stories, rather than just reporting daily occurences...interesting. This one was fun to write, despite my tiredness at the time, which made it all the more annoying that somebody filched it for their own blog!

I'm glad you liked this one. I'll keep that in mind for future posts.

Your keen observations of the Vietnamese restaurant and the new colleagues are most impressive and amusing. The Asian restaurant thing is true everywhere. I was also impressed by your quick gratitude gesture for Suzzane.

GrantTLC 11. March 2008, 11:33

I take it you don't get people buying you chocolate often then?

I get a lot of amusement out of people. The gentle kind in most cases, although I do have an evil streak (I could have gone a LOT further than mentioning Stuart's 'pink shirt'). So when I write about them I try to pass that feeling along. Glad to see it's having the desired effect.

Not that crazy about chocolate, more of a salty nuts person. I was impressed by the gesture. I think most people would just say thank you and then forget about it.
