Advice for us all

My Love it/HATE IT relationship with Facebook continues. Okay, it's more Hate than Love at this point but I'm still plugging on in there out of some weird inertia.

Anyway, I found this, the Ten Commandments of Facebook. Recommended reading for all of us, I think, containing much common sense and a plea to the essential dignity within us all.

I have to say facebook is a second rate bebo and bebo is crap too!

Do you like the new FB, Grant? I HATE it! It doesn't work properly :frown:

GrantTLC 27. September 2008, 11:25

Yes I like the new Facebook: all those tedious Apps on people's pages hidden away out of sight! This alone makes it a vast improvement and a lot less like the god-awful Myspace.

It hasn't not worked for me yet either, but I suspect I use a lot less of the features than you do.

Miss Kimbers 28. September 2008, 01:51

You suspect...? Well, I don't have any applications  That's true. The new layout is better because you don't have to load all the apps. Why do people add them anyway? *confused*

GrantTLC 28. September 2008, 08:46

I'm not sure, hon. It's a peculiar phenomenon of the modern age that people feel the need to use these cheap digital parlour tricks - pokes, apps, interactive quizzes and so on - instead of real, meaningful communication. It puzzles (and fascinates) me particularly because of my Interoverted tendencies; I tend to view these things as the general noise and hubbub of Extroverted commmunication, the need for Extro's to be constantly engaged with each other in order to validate their existence and take their place in the grand scheme of human social energy flow (thus guaranteeing external sources of energy they can call upon when their internal stores run low). This reasoning can be applied to many phenomena, Myspace, texting, etc and seems to hold true throughout.

(sorry, got my dispassionate analytical hat on this morning!)

David Cameron has described himself as "a man with a plan" to fix Britain's "broken society" and get the country out of the financial mess it is in.

HOLD ON A MINUTE I THOUGHT "AND THEY HAVE A PLAN!" ISN'T THAT THE CYLONS FROM BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! :yikes:

Grant, remember that post you made about Dr Who and Miss Piper looking like a Muppet? Well, the series finished here on Sunday (yeah we're behind the times) and I agree that she does look...strange... The last episode was strange too

Odessa 2. October 2008, 14:10

I heard that in a recent interview Billie was quoted as saying shes still not yet decided whether she will return to Dr WHO! Will frustration I have to ask WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO LEAVE IT ALONE WITH REGARD TO ROSE'S CHARACTER!:furious: The show must move on and introduce new characters and stories!!

BTW Looking foward to the Cyberman Christmas episode! No billie and no bloody Catherine Taite!

IF YOU HAVE SEEN "THE HAPPENING" FILM ASK YOURSELF ONE QUESTION!

WHO IS MAKING THE WIND BLOW!?!

GrantTLC 2. October 2008, 15:09

galadriel: She really does look odd in those last episodes. Her teeth looked all out of whack, leading many to suspect she'd had some cosmetic stuff done on them, but of course Celebs never admit to surgery...

The last episode was very odd indeed, although I loved the Daleks very much. The 'triple-doctors' ending made me cry, for all the wrong reasons. I'm not so sure I want to keep watching now. :frown:

Goldbug: I agree, Rose should go away. And Tait should also never come back. EVER. No I haven't seen "the Happening" so I have no idea what you are on about.

Odessa 2. October 2008, 22:17

 I did enjoy the last series of Dr Who but the Tardis towing the Earth back into place was taking the piss too much, wouldn't the force have destroyed everything on the planet, I think that was a major f up! Homer: Doh!

The Happening was a film out earlier this year which has to be one of the worst films I have seen this year, at least the morally bankrupt Rambo film at least visually and story wise beat it with a large stick! :yikes:

Miss Kimbers 3. October 2008, 00:11

Rose should go away because she looks weird and is in love with the Dr, who isn't the real Dr.... :|

Before Tait was on Dr Who, I had only ever seen the Katherine Tait show and I HATED it. Then she was on DR Who and I thought i'd hate it, but it wasn't as bad as her show!

Odessa 3. October 2008, 09:03

 Donna was quite annoying and a bit of a "know it all" and some of her rants to the Dr were quite cringworthy! I hope the next DR companion will be the start of a new chapter and leave the Donna and Rose thing along, but sadly I have a feeling we shall see them again!

Hey, guess what? Not-real, half-human Doctor (10b, as the fans call him) started up his own Livejournal! No matter how you felt about the ending of that series it's an amazing read!

Go here to check it out! (Oh, and you have to be over the age of 14 ) My advice: start from the beginning and spend an hour or two going through it all: whoever is writing it has quite the talent.

If I'd met Catherine Tait ten years ago, in some bar somewhere, and she didn't speak, I think I might have quite fancied her...There's a rather intelligent, attractive and curvaceous redhead hiding behind that massively annoying gob.

Wow! :yikes: That is pretty mental and impressive hope the lawyers at BBC don't shut it down on infringement of copywrite or something like that. Maybe what Billie P was referring to when she mentioned returning to DR WHO was possibly a spin off based on the DR 10B which would be an interesting idea. I did chuckle after two years and many adventures in Torchwood that the DR's chopped off hand did re-appear and like I suspected would lead to a new DR clone - I am so clever maybe the writers of DR have an implant in my brain and are stealing my great ideas - more fool me for not suggesting it to them in the first place and receiving a nice fat cheque :eyes: for my troubles! Oh well maybe next time!
