Good Riddance

The hated Sony Ericsson W850i died last night whilst in the middle of texting my girlfriend. The screen suddenly went loopy - something do do with a loose connection in the slide mechanism, said my rough and ready analysis - so I gave it some Man-DIY (i.e: banged it off my bedside table a few times) which only made it go completely, resolutely white. This was obviously due to the phone's shoddy construction; hitting things against other things has worked for man since the days of inventing fire and I think several of the lower circles of hell will have become top-flight ice-skating rinks before I even think of giving up on such a profound and time-honoured nugget of male wizardry.

I suspect I didn't really give a simian butt-noise what happened to the phone anyway.

Switching the phone off and on again seemed to set it back to normal but when I slid it open it went funny again, this time adding a brand new and very funky fullscreen south-south-east scrolling effect, complete with ghosting and some decidedly odd colours. I somehow managed to coax enough stability from it to very quickly save my contacts to my SIM card AND my Memory Stick before cheerfully deciding to let the twitching, glitching husk die a vaguely dignified death.

That's it: No More: Kaput: Hasta lumbago, you very bad phone. bye

Next up - a trip to Virgin Mobile on the High street to see if they have a black Nokia 6300 in stock (Ps: Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll!).

I'm freee! *dances*

[UPDATE] I am now the proud owner of a stealth-black Nokia 6300! :D And what a beautiful phone it is, too...! I may come back here and go 'squeee' in a day or two, if I can get my hands to stop stroking the casing...

Still Mad at the OlympicsHappy Birthday, Blue Chamber!

hehehe  Man-DIY?

I get quite attached to things and get a bit upset when they finally stop working!
I have had my mobile for 4 years now, I don't want another phone though, even though my current one is all full of fluff and really out of date! I like my fluffy phone, it has been with me through everything that's happened since I got it!

I will do the same as you, and just wait until the sad day it refuses to work any more, then begrudgingly buy myself a new one

I get attached to my devices, too. Or anything I use lots, really. I think it's only natural to bond with something you use on a daily basis, particularly if it works well. Not so good when it doesn't, though, and replacing it is expensive!

Man-DIY rules. A hearty application of it fixes a staggering range of non-cooperative household equipment, vehicles, pets, children, furniture and foodstuffs, showing them all who's boss.

The joys of text - it amazes me how texting has become part of the courtship game, I mean what did people in relationships do before the invention of the mobile phone? Does it enhance relationships or is it just an added complication. We all know how texts can be misread and misunderstanding can arise! The future is bright, the future is text!

"How's you text life!":yuck:

I think it's just a stop-gap until we all evolve telepathy, Goldbug. P:

heh I am quite the fan of man-DIY apparently because I have found that bashing things about always makes them work better!!
Sigh, so much for the idea of getting that same phone...I do want to hear about this new Nokia..I have one myself for now but it's getting a tad loopy and I fear I must replace it soon, which is unfortunate..we have bonded :frown:
