Mr Bell, what did I ever do to you?

Today has been characterised by another chapter in my struggle with Alexender Bell's technological progeny.

Firstly, my phone at work hasn't stopped bloody ringing all goddam day and it's only just past lunchtime! I hate answering the phone when I have lots of work needing done, and these days that's just about every day.

Secondly, while my Digicam recovered from her impromptu, near-fatal drowning, I thought I'd maybe use the 2.0 megpixel camera on my mobile phone. Uh uh, no dice. The damn thing is completely blank. Where I should be seeing the world, all my phone shows me is a black screen. Useless Sony piece of...muttermuttergrumblegrumble...

Also, I was informed today that apparently I'm going to have to wait ANOTHER 28 days for Carphone Warehouse to send me the check they told me would be 28 days SIX WEEKS AGO, as the incompetent fools haven't yet sent it out! Worse, they'd added it to my account as call credit, and not as a separate cash payment! I've already got £240's worth in there - what the hell do I need another £150 for??? SEND ME MY GODDAM MONEY!

Finally, what company uses postal cheques in this digital era of bank transfers? They're quick enough to take it off you with their eponymous Direct Debits, but try get some back and...

Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhh! :irked:

Oh well. At least I have a pint with a mate to look forward to after work. Only...1200 seconds to go!

I left my phone at my mother's yesterday so now I have to drive 30 minutes each way to pick it up. Having a beer sounds so much better.

Thanks, it was good

sorry to hear your camera has packed up, I feel completely lost without mine! Why don't you ask santa for a nice new olympus one? Oh no though...how are you going to take your pictures of Aberdeen's xmas lights now?! :eyes:

Cheer up Granty...surely things can't be all that bad! Take a deep breath and have another cup of tea and a scone, all your problems will then disappear

It's alright, Kirsten, it's only my phone-cam that's kaput. My digital camera itself almost suffered the same fate - due to my carelessly getting it soaked - but it seems to have recovered well enough to be useable.

And being at home yesterday (I don't work weekends) is always the perfect tonic to clear a work-generated mood.

kirstycat 25. November 2007, 16:25

ah good  phew!
Do you mutate from dr jeckle into mr hyde when you are at work then? Good to hear that you are feeling better

GrantTLC 25. November 2007, 20:50

Nah, it's more of an Eric/Bananaman type of transformation.

kirstycat 25. November 2007, 22:35

Eric Bananaman? Is he a cartoon character?

GrantTLC 26. November 2007, 07:21

See, I thought I'd pitched that joke perfectly at your/our age group, but looks like I was wrong. Sigh. I must be older than I think I am.

Have a look and see what you missed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNknWT-agT0

*sobs uncontrollably into a handkerchief*

kirstycat 26. November 2007, 21:23

hehe, actually bananaman does ring a bell! I recognise that video clip you attached there...must have been from the early 80's or something?

GrantTLC 27. November 2007, 07:22

It was indeed. I remember it being one of the first things we'd watch after coming hom from school.
