I Must Take You Into My Confidence and Warn You!

, ,

Just one more Hammer Horror offering before Halloween, then I think i'll let them rest in peace for a while, todays score is Carlo Martelli's music from The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb.
Treading more Mummy cliches than most Curse is slow paced even by the standards of 60's horror movies and suffers from a truly shabby Mummy that I'm sure no Egyptian ruler alive or dead would own up to being responsible for. Of course it's not all bad, some of the murders are effectively staged and Fred Clark and George Pastell offer splendid performances to offset the lack of horror provided by our cloth wrapped assassin.

It's Hammer time again! 1968 saw Hammer studios adapt Dennis Wheatley's novel The Devil Rides Out with Christopher Lee and Charles Gray as opposing forces and the combined talents of director Terence Fisher and writer Richard Matheson behind the camera. A hell for leather pace a surreal appearance by the devil himself

and the undoubtable talents of it's leads help iron out some of the more questionable moments (the not so special effects for one) and of course there is an amazing score by James Bernard
Over the years Wheatley seems to have become something of a forgotten figure in horror fiction, despite his works being among the best sellers in the 1960's, it's a shame, as there are far less deserving writers who recieve the credit Wheatley does not. Christopher Lee has often stated that he would love to see someone remake The Devil Rides Out, i'm no fan of remakes but i think i would gladly pay to see someone take a crack at this one.

I've been watching way too many Hammer Horrors lately, so The Green Inferno is likely to see quite a lot of Hammer music over the next couple of weeks.
Todays offering is Taste the Blood of Dracula, my own personal favourite of the follow ups to The Horror of Dracula, it's got Christopher Lee, lashings of blood, some barbed criticism of Victorian values and Linda Hayden

It also features a quite magnificent score by James Bernard, full of all the usual crashing sounds the series is known for but also some beautiful lyrical pieces.

It's Too Late To Run, There's No Time To Scream

Back in the early days of the Green Inferno I posted a mini-score to Jef Richards painfully unscary slasher Berseker: The Nordic Curse, with a little spare time on my hands and much to the cry of "Why?" I now offer an additional seven short tracks of music from this glorious movie.
Like drug abuse and Steve Guttenberg I know this movie is bad for me but I just can't hate a film that has George "Buck" Flower pretending to be Norweigan.

Track Listing:
1. Main Title
2. King H
3. Cool Dude
4. The Legend
5. Bathroom Trip
6. Playing Games
7. Love and Death in the Woods
8. Spoiling the Fun
9. Morning
10. Berserker/ Prisoner of Rock and Roll

Alright let's kick off The Green Inferno version 2.
Here is "Music From and Inspired By" Hideo Nakata's Ring and it's companion piece The Spiral
I can't comment on The Spiral having never seen it but The Ring scared the crap out of me. The ending of that film still works no matter how many times i see it!
Enjoy!
