The Green Inferno

Where Music and Fear Gather for Drinks

Doctor, witchcraft is dead and discredited. Are you bent on reviving forgotten horrors?

, , ,

Here's the score to Piers Haggard's mighty Blood on Satan's Claw, released by Tony Tenser's Tigon, BOSC is a nasty affair about devil worship amongst the children of a secluded English village, wonderfully atmospheric with a surprising amount of nudity and grisly goings on.

The excellent score by Marc Wilkinson takes it's inspiration from something called The Devil's Interval and utilises instruments as diverse as the cimbalom and the Ondes Martenot. It's quite possibly one of the greatest scores written for a British horror film.

There is growing amongst you all an insolent ungodliness, which I will not tolerate!

I want these people to know the meaning of horror... horror... is that clear?

TCM 4. Where to start?..... , well depending on your mood, it's either one of the worst films EVER made (yes, worse than The Gingerdead Man) or a film whose catalogue of inadequacies make it more entertaining than Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus.

We all know he's in it.

..and her aswell.
But they are not totally to blame for the disaster that is TCM4, Leatherface is now apparently a Drag Artist who has shacked up with the rejects from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, there is a conspiracy plot about horror and maybe aliens, but, like the other parts of the film it goes nowhere, a hitherto unmentioned Biplane features in the painfully odd ending, the kids are awful, it would be a pleasure to see these morons hacked up by Leather, but in what must surely be a case for Trade Descriptions, the chainsaw isn't used at all.
But none of this could stop this idiot looking for a soundtrack, and since no official one was released (no, I know, I was shocked too!) I started looking around to see what I could find, it may be a little rough around the edges and missing a few songs but in the words of Matthew "Vilmer" McConaughey "What are you gonna do? Shoot me?"

With every Man, Woman and Na'vi apparently watching Avatar it sems a fine time to post Stelvio Cipriani's score for Piranhna 2: The Spawning. I know James Cameron didn't officially complete this aquatic masterpiece (Thank you Ovidio G. Assonitis!) but he certainly directed some of it and it does star his friend and artificial person Lance Henriksen.

Finally Back to Business

, ,

Sorry it's been a few weeks since my last post, took a little longer than usual to get over the christmas/ new year festivities. Another dose of something a little different today.

The Sentinel Returns was a videogame made for the playstation and PC back in 1998, the music was composed by one John Carpenter. This seven track album was given away originally in a French videogame magazine, it's typically Carpenteresque with lot's of moody synths.

I hear that JC is back behind the cameras working on "The Ward" I immensely enjoyed his Masters of Horror entries and must confess to being very excited about a new movie (and am praying it is a better piece than the trashy guilty pleasure that is Ghosts of Mars)

A Warning To The Curious

, ,

As Christmas is drawing near I am compelled to share this with you. In the 1970's the BBC commissioned a series of adaptations of famous ghost stories which they broadcast over the festive period. I caught their version of the M.R. James classic A Warning to the Curious some years later and it left an indelible impression on me. Intensely scary and beautifully made, it captures the windswept lonliness of the East Coast of England exceptionally well, so here is a small rip of the score from this mini masterpiece ripped from the already out of print DVD.

Track Listing

1. The Legend
2. Arriving In Seaburg
3. The Churchyard
4. Agar
5. Looking For a Family

7. Finding the Crown
8. Travelling Companion

Only Blackness

I'm a major fan of Italian cinema, in particular The Giallo, there's something i find irresistible about the sometimes ridiculous plot twists, the red herrings, the delicious murder scenes and of course the astounding music scores.
Antonio Bido's giallo Solamente Nero is a hotch potch of other (some would say better) films, but aside from it's overall enjoyable nature and effective use of Venetian locations, it has one major plus: A score composed by Stelvio Cipriani and performed by the mighty Goblin. Without further ado, here's the score: Enjoy!

I also have the various artists soundtrack for this, if anyone wants it let me know.

Here's To Mediocrity!

Thought I'd take a break from horror films for a while, here is the the various artist soundtrack to 1984 comedy Up the Creek starring Stephen Furst, Dan Monahan and the acting legend that is Tim Matheson!

I haven't seen this film in years but remember it fondly in the dim past of the eighties, in fact I believe the first copy of this I saw was a Betamax tape! I have no idea where I got this soundtrack, just found it on my computer the other day, so thanks/apologies to the original uploader.

Here's the incredible Popol Vuh score for Werner Herzog's remake of Murnau's classic Nosferatu, professional lunatic and occasional actor Klaus Kinski portrays the bald Count and spends a lot a time bemoaning the lonliness of his existence in this atmospheric, visually stunning but overlong film. Herzog had problems shooting certain scenes in the Dutch town of Delft as the authorities refused to allow him to unleash 11,000 rats into the streets, can't say I'm surprised.

1. Bruder des Schattens (05:43)
