...please,read this. http://www.jessicagottlieb.com/2009/04/the-day-i-held-the-pep-boys-manager-hostage-in-my-car/

Having had my own issues with a local Pep Boys on a wholesale level, I can totally understand how this lady could become so frustrated, so quickly.
I once asked the manager of my local Pep Boys if he really didn't want wholesale business. He gave me a litany of excuses including lack of manpower. Now, my Pep Boys has 2 people that handle wholesale accounts. If neither one of them are there, you're screwwed. No one else can give you repair shop pricing. Stupid, no?
Having worked in the trade, on and off, on both sides of the counter, I can tell you this is idiotic. I know the catologues in the computer, I know how to look parts up in a print catologue. Hell, when I started inventory was handled manually - by a cardex system. Pffft! These young'uns! irked
For those of you not familiar with Pep Boys, it's an auto parts chain. Barely.

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, May 4, 2010 9:12:03 AM

You misunderstood, that's the message you'd get from 'Prep Boys'. lol.
Either that or "service not allowed". lol.
This is South Africa. That's good service in comparison. rolleyes.

Very familiar with Pep Boys. Their rebuilt parts are terrible. Never last over a year. Hate Pep Boys.

L2D2 Wednesday, May 5, 2010 11:28:36 PM

Way to go, lady! I always love it when justice is done.

H82typ Thursday, May 6, 2010 12:12:27 AM

I hate them too, Linda! I won't buy rebuilt units there at all! yuck

L2D2 Thursday, May 6, 2010 1:24:28 AM

I buy nearly all my auto parts here at O'Reilly's now, a chain that has only been in Tyler for a few years. So far I have had no problem with anything I've bought from them.

Sarah angel292005 Monday, May 10, 2010 12:38:51 PM

The great thing is...we have a choice to use them or not. I would chose NOT to! :grrr:

Cleanclean Monday, May 17, 2010 10:24:13 PM

So ... Pep Boys are ex-taxi drivers, then?

H82typ Monday, May 17, 2010 10:53:56 PM

confused where did you get that idea, David?

Cleanclean Tuesday, May 18, 2010 8:48:11 AM

Body odour in the car ... the smell of farts ... things commonly found in taxis ...

... one of those things that were funnier in my head, I suspect. wink

H82typ Tuesday, May 18, 2010 2:52:59 PM

lol Remember that Seinfeld episode? bigsmile

Cleanclean Tuesday, May 18, 2010 11:20:58 PM

After wracking my brain for literally seconds, I can confidently say the only car-related episode of Seinfeld I recall is the one with Jerry not picking his nose. Or maybe the one where Kramer has a test drive. Or the one where George is mistaken for a racist activist. Or the one where George can't get his candy bar from the mechanic's machine. But no farty/body odour one, sorry. sad

(But, then again, I haven't see every episode. It's really quite disturbing. SERENITY NOW!).

Have you seen these?

No, I haven't! I'll check 'em out, later though. I'll see if I can find a link to the one I was referring to, too. left

L2D2 Wednesday, May 19, 2010 6:41:45 AM

What is this, Seinfeld week? I've had Chuck and Angeliki talking about Seinfeld episodes on my blog for a week now. And I never watched Seinfeld. Have no idea what they are talking about.

Mad Scientistqlue Wednesday, May 19, 2010 10:54:02 AM

Seinfeld was a show about 'nothing', so if you missed it, you missed nothing. p.
(the same can be said for most tv shows)

H82typ Wednesday, May 19, 2010 10:57:35 AM

lol I'd catch an odd episode or two, Linda. Couldn't call myself a fan, though.
Still haven't looked for that bit, the gist of it, y'all, is that the valet that parks their car has such bad B.O. that it stinks up the entire interior of the car... "hilarity ensues".
It truely was the "show about nothing". left

From Pep Boys to Seinfield!Your page never ceases to amuse me bigsmile Technological glitches provide the hardly-working ones with the perfect excuse to shut down their business!

L2D2 Friday, May 21, 2010 1:16:12 AM

I'm surprised that Pep Boys is still in business. I guess people, even knowing that the parts they buy are lucky to last a year, know also that Pep Boys will replace that part for life---supposedly. They replaced a couple things for me. Bought a rebuilt carburetor from them. It lasted less than a year, and they replaced it for nothing. Guess that's how they manage.

Peterpman45 Friday, May 21, 2010 10:31:10 AM

lol Now someone else has that rebuilt carburetor awww

H82typ Friday, May 21, 2010 10:41:37 AM

Not neccessarily, Peter. Not all rebuilt carbs can be rebuilt. That's true of most parts, as I'm sure you know.

H82typ Friday, May 21, 2010 10:48:26 AM

Linda, one of the most comprehensive parts warranty programs is from Advance. They even give you a lifetime guarantee on brake pads! Unfortunately, the nearest one is about 10 miles away through stop and go traffic. Still...

Peterpman45 Friday, May 21, 2010 1:46:22 PM

rolleyes Why don't you move next to the parts store Dennis?

Mad Scientistqlue Friday, May 21, 2010 2:55:17 PM

'cos then he'll be eleven miles from the slut house through stop and go traffic. whistle.

Bud McDonnellfammcdon Monday, May 31, 2010 12:50:45 AM

Does Pep Boys sell Tasers?

H82typ Monday, May 31, 2010 5:29:38 AM

mine doesn't, no. lol

L2D2 Tuesday, June 1, 2010 2:41:27 AM

About Advance---I think we have one on Gentry Parkway. I'll have to look and see. Although, I tend to go to the one nearest me when I need something. ABC is across town from me now, so I quit going there. I always had good results with their parts.
