Rules for 60+

, , ,

Many of us "Old Folks" (those over 60, WAY over 60, or hovering near 60) are quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We're unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to conform to current fashions. Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided:

1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedo's and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Bikinis and liver spots
11. Short shorts and varicose veins
12. Inline skates and a walker

And last, but not least... my personal favorite:
13. Thongs and Depends.

Please keep these basic guidelines foremost in your mind when you shop.

As a member of the "Way over sixty" group, I get quite a chuckle at the nursing home swimming pool where the scrawny old ladies with breast enhancements sort of drift around helplessly, buoyed up by their implants. Kinda makes my day! bigsmile

Suntana Wednesday, August 3, 2011 1:52:46 AM

Recently, one of my sisters who is 50 shows up with a Red streak in her hair. Granted she looks younger than her age and is always well-dressed, but 20 she doesn't look. So, I just slightly shocked went, "A RED STREAK IN YOUR HAIR?!" She goes, "Yeah, everyone at work said it looked good." Yeah right. I'll bet they did. I mean, C'mon! She's not a Rock Star. Heck, I don't even care for it on Avril Lavigne, so IMO it certainly didn't belong on my 50-year old sister.

H82typ Wednesday, August 3, 2011 4:38:19 AM

I'd agree with you, Carlos. In her defense, though, it probably doesn't look half bad, as long as she's not grey. p

Suntana Wednesday, August 3, 2011 12:42:39 PM

Her hair at that instant was dyed probably pretty close to jet black. So, no, it wasn't Grey & Red. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/Scared.gif - You're right in that it didn't look horrendous per se. It wasn't like, "OMG! What Cluster Fugg do you have going on there?" scared It was I guess more a case of me knowing her age and that really a red streak in her hair at that age was NOT something that the "Fashion Experts" recommended. Unless MAYBE if she was a Backup Singer with Aerosmith. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/LOL2.gif -

KimberlySqueakeyCat Thursday, August 4, 2011 12:57:09 AM
