Black humor to the nth degree. Who'd have thought losing a limb could be so funny! Saw this on reddit and just had to share it! http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/czrwf/im_22_deaf_and_am_having_my_right_leg_amputated/

I realised two things while reading this:
1) Attitude is everything.

@Peter greyeye80 says that it depends on the type of prosthetics he gets. we have worked well with many ppl who have had lost a limb, and they move better than we do! lol

I love people who can retain their sense of humor no matter their circumstances. I hope I can always retain my sense of humor. So far I've done pretty well I think. I love black humor. I guess I'm kinda twisted, huh?

I don't think so, Peter, in this case. I'm sure he would rather that life worked out differently for him, but now that he knows what he's got to do the humor is just a part of a coping mechanism.

Hey, Dennis - glad you made it through Ilene's Chinese cousin [LoL]... the amputee story above kind of hits home, as a kid that I knew since he was in diapers - wrecked a golf cart with his girlfriend last week, snapping his leg at mid-thigh (femur), bone through the skin. After his leg was repaired with pins at the hospital, gangrene set in... so, off it came... the kid has had a major drug and alcohol problem, so, maybe this is his 'rock bottom' - though, in the spirit of the feed above, I'll probably be one of the first to call this kid "Stumpy" - have a good day! yes
