It's a public holiday today... but pretty cold at the moment.. only 6 deg at the moment.. and yeah.. pretty freezing.. especially 1am in the morning..
Can't sleep... so listening to Nine Inch Nails and trying to put words to paper...
It's been a bit quiet on the job front.. nothing going... and the economy is surely not help..
around 300 people are being made redundant per day.. and this is in a country that boasted one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world..
Mind you, we only have around 4.2 million people in New Zealand... very small compared to most countries in the world.. but its nice cause we're only a small country, and you dont really want millions here anyway..
Another problem is most companies are seeking cheaper labour in mainland china and India.. and thus putting New Zealanders out of work. Several companies in NZ have moved their operations off-shore.. simply because the Chinese and other asian people across and in India are prepared to work for less than one dollar a day...
Yes they do, because they dont have work over there... and with NZ companies moving their call-centres and labour there, they are creating jobs...
BUT WHAT ABOUT NEW ZEALANDERS THAT ARE BEING LAID OFF...
WELL, MONEY TALKS... AND THEY SIMPLY DONT GIVE A SHIT...
The Government doesnt give a shit either.. what do they care...
I see New Zealand ending up with a massive unemployment problem... and the Government will have do start acting and do something about it pretty soon.
Okay... so we have social welfare in New Zealand, and if you dont and cannot get work, you go on the benefit...
But who the hell can live on around 200 dollars a week... that is paying rent, buying food, paying power and water...
No-one can... and that is what the average person on the "DOLL" gets a week.
I've only been out of work for 3 weeks, and let me tell you, its pretty tough out there.
And I'm qualified... well, perhaps too qualified, because all the jobs I've been trying for I get told they need a junior, and I know too much... because they dont want to pay me what I am worth...
CHEAP CHEAP Labour.. that is what I call it.
So what does all my experience, training, and 30 plus years in the I.T. industry help now...
absolutely nothing... it means shit...
Hay - I'm pretty pissed off about this.. believe me, and I'm one of the lucky ones.. my partner still has a job, we can still pay the rent, power, water, eat, and drive around...
What about the poor people that cannot afford anything
Many people sleep cold tonight, many have gone to bed without dinner, empty tummy's... and many many children are in that situation tonight..
And what does the New Zealand Government do about it
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING... THEY SIMPLY DONT GIVE A SHIT...
And that goes for governments elsewhere too....
Hay, I can carry on and on... and nothing will change... tomorrow is just another day, more people will loose their jobs, their livelyhood, their homes, their transport, their families... everything they own, and nothing will be done to get these people help...
Because no-one cares...
Well, I do... I care about everyone out there that sleep cold tonight, hungry... and very sad and in dire need of help...
I wish I could win the Lotto... so that I can help people in need...
I wish I could win Millions, so I can help people that really need, give them hope...
I wish someone with too much money in the bank, so much that they dont know how to spend it, could help all these people in need.. the hungry children of this world, sleeping in dark ally's tonight, without blankets, and a bit of warmth, and love...
I wish, I wish.... and I wish....

I'm pretty glad that I'm living in New Zealand... we're a NUCLEAR FREE society.. and hopefully that is the way its going to stay.... Yes... we're GREEN down here... NO NUKES !!
And what is happening with KOREA who is totally defiant by firiing two short range missles off its east coast today... and this is just hours after the UN security council condemned the test of the Nuclear weapon Korea fired 10 km below the surface yesterday...
It's like there is tension growing everywhere.. In India they're even setting busses on fire.. I can understand they're upset about the murder of their holy man in Vienna... but cmon... they're destroying their own transport, their own stuff... that's totally stupid...
Trouble in Mogadishu again... well still... heaps of people living on the edge of fighting.. nowhere to make a home... Somalia's always been at the receiving end of all the crap going on...
I'm not even going to carry on... its just morbid... why cant there be world peace...
Hay everyone... take your weapon... destroy it... rather plant maize... corn... plant a tree... save your own kind... take care of each other.. save the animals of this planet... Oh why do I bother...
Tell you why.. I care.. I care about what is going on in this stupid crazy world.. but then... countries and companies make money out of war.. they make money out of people suffering.. they make money just about every which way they can... that is called economy...
Imagine if there was no war... image if there was just peace... would the media companies, newspapers.. News channels, would they all survive.... NO they wont.. because people are hungry for suffering.. they're hungry for war, people dying, because just the mere news about it sells.. so they make money... and the more money people make, the more they want...
That in itself is a human trait.. the more you get and have, the more you want...
Take a poor guy, out of nowhere.. say, somewhere in Africa... introduce him to western society, give him a few hundred dollars, clothe him, give him a car.. a job... a home to stay.... and a job....
And after a while... introduce him to cambling.. yeah, pokey machines... lottery,, any way to make more money...
I'd give him 6 months at the most.. and this guy would be the same as any other money hungry merciless bloke living in either Europe, America, Australia, South Africa, or even New Zealand...
Because for the simple fact that GAMBLING is one of the most evil things on this planet.. it creates wealth for the rich, and destroys the poor, the people really in need.
Ok... I admit.. I've played the pokey's at the casinos.. I've gambled a bit.. but who havent.. most people of today have.. whether its a simple card game with mates, where you play for money, couple of dollars or cents... or whether you're betting on the horses, or playing lotto.. there are many ways of gambling... that that is one of the biggest destroyers of mankind...
Ban Gambling... and you would put heaps of the rich out of business... think what it would do to Vegas... Miami.. Montecarlo... the casino's in South Africa, Australia, and even the casino's in New Zealand...
I can carry on and carry on... but nothing will change.. because humans are terrible.. yes we are.. terrible creatures that destroy our families, our own kind... through gambling, war, any way where we have an opportunity to make money out of it, we would do it...
So I'm going to sign off tonight... with this short message for anyone that wants to comment..
Why do we do it...

I'm very interested in the Maori Culture, the language, beliefs, and especially music and dance..
But a very important part of the Maori Culture, and Maori is the HAKA, which is being performed by the All Blacks before any rugby game..
So what is the "HAKA" and what does it really mean?
The Haka is a composition played by many instruments. Hands, feet, legs, body, voice, tongue, and eyes all play their part in blending together to convey in their fullness the challenge, welcome, exultation, defiance or contempt."
The haka is a communal posture dance with shouted accompaniment. All performers move as one, with quivering hands, protruding tongues and rolling eyes, while maintaining a very regular beat by foot stamping and hand slaps on the body.
Young people got together on warm evenings to perform haka just as young people in Europe gathered for social dances.
Singing, or the haka, was the amusement of village maidens and young lads on fine evenings. For this purpose they assembled with flowers and feathers in their hair... Most songs were accompanied with action....
All joined in the chorus, which consisted of a peculiar noise caused by repeated expirations and inspirations, slapping one hand on the breast, holding the other aloft and making it vibrate with great rapidity, and moving the body in indelicate attitudes.
The Haka Words and meaning
(Maori in green)

It is death! It is death! We were at war
KA ORA! KA ORA!
It is life! It is life! But now there is peace.
KA MATE! KA MATE!
We're going to die! We're going to die! We thought we were all going to die
KA ORA! KA ORA!
We're going to live! We're going to live! but now we are safe

This is the man, so hairy because our leader, so strong and masculine,
NANA NEI I TIKI MAI, WHAKAWHITI TE RA!

Tis Monday the 25th.. nothing on the job front yet.. but going for an interview tomorrow... 2nd one that is with this company.. so will have to keep the faith and see how it goes..
But, dont count your chickens before they're hatched..
Drove into the city this morning.. traffic's all crazy again.. Monday morning.. but heaps of ppl protesting this morning.. because they want to make Auckland a super city, which means all the other councils will go.. and that is just crazy doing that while the economy is so bad..
We're into a recession and they want to spend millions in doing this.. but who is ultimately going to pay for all the work to be done.. the ratepayers and taxpayers.. yeah us.. who else..
Maori are totally against it, and so are many Pakia.. (white boyz)
Maori is pretty upset bout this, because it means they dont have enough seats in this new council, the super city... and yeah, I agree, this country belongs to Maori as well as Pakia, and all the people that make up this beautiful country..
So why should only some pakia have seats and get to decide what goes.. to hell with it I'd say..
K so I'm an immigrant.. formerly from South Africa, but this is my home now.. I consider myself a New Zealander.. and part of Maori and Pakia, part of all the pacific people that live here.. part of Aotearoa...
And we should all have a say in how to run this country.. politics... it just screws up everything doesnt it?

K..So I'm new at this... joining the mad mad world in blogging..
Patience as I'm just writing what comes to mind..
It's a new day.. a new beginning.. a new way.. Got made redundant cos.. they reckon the economy is crap everywhere.. but who're they bullshitting.. companies are still buying new cars.. some get pay rises.. others get a kick up the ass
Well.. might become a fisherman.. maybe a painter.. Been in I.T. for as long as I can remember..
done this, done that... way back from Windows 3 and dos.. and even before then when pc's werent even around.. had a mac way back then.. and an ZX Spectrum.. GW Basic.. tried the programming but it sucked.. got a commodore 64 then.. and then the xt's came about.. still kept the mac because it proved its worth..
Then it was Windows 3.11, and then before you knew it was 95, and NT Server.. done the Novell thing, and OS2, and Banyan vines...
Then it was XP.. and now Vista and Windows 7...
Done the MCSE stuff.. and Novell Stuff.. got certified.. done CISCO - got certified.... what more can be done..
But my mac still goes - bought it way back in 2003.. and it runs Tiger.. neva had to upgrade any components so it could go from os 8 to tiger.. only had to increase ram, and got a bigger drive..
But.. yeah.. had enough of computers..
Applied from some jobs out there.. but they tell me I am over qualified...
I can teach just about every Techie out there a thing or 10... Been it I.T. way longer than most people.. but I'm over qualified.. cant get a job... W T F..
So it goes.. will start painting... or fishing... or mowing lawns..
funny that...
Tomorrow's another day.. but I'm living for now.. living for today... enjoying what I have.. today..
