Life, Mozy and Everything

, ,

OK, first off! No, not life, Mozy! Not Mozy Pozy or something weird like that, just Mozy! p

....

Ok, fine, you give up don't you? Well basically, it's a site that gives you 2gb free space to back-up your important files with (more if you pay)! Not only that, they've got a spiffy client that will automatically back them up! cat

You can easily check off which folders you want and don't want as well as setting filters so you have your first back-up and then only newer files after that will get uploaded, though I don't know if it will upload files over again in the first place.

Anyway! It's 2gb free space, though you can't use it as a file server it's nice to know your files are safe love

If you want to learn more or download it yourself go to www.mozy.com (Ref #: YVR4S0)
(Note: That is my referal link! Which you'll want to use since you get an extra 256mb of free space if you do!)

....

OK! Now that I've told you about Mozy I can make a post about something else that really made me think! Yippy!

Ok, so I've got this friend who was playing a game called Alter Ego and at the end of one of his games his 'trustworthyness' stat was 21 (99 being the max mind you) and this is what he said:

Trustworthiness sucks, but.
Who cares? Its not like this game rewards morality.
But then again, does life?

It got me to thinking about how life -does- infact reward morality, the problem is most of the time people don't think of it as a reward or it's not an immediate thing and so they don't connect the dots when it comes around. Not to mention it "punishes" immorality.

Ok, so an example, lets take a common immoral thing people do all the time these days. Yes, that's right, sex. If you're sleeping around all the time then chances are you're going to get some kind of STD (Punishment), while if you abstain untill after you get married you:

A) Are less likely to get some STD.
B) Are more likely to have a deeper, lasting relationship with your spouse.
(Not to mention less hassles with things like devorce. up )

The problem is people now-a-days, in America at least, want everything now and don't think ahead to the future and think "Hey! I could die really young from some STD!" or "I really want to have a good relationship with the person I marry." or even "I don't want to have to deal with the pain of devorce in 20 years because of a stupid one night fling I'm having now."

Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace.
- Oscar Wilde

Granted sex isn't the only thing that pays not to do, there's lying, and cheating, etc. If you don't do that sort of stuff people are going to think better of you which will cause more opportunities to pop-up and in the end you'll have a better life.

Not to mention the impact you'll have on the people around you! Which is almost a whole other rant in itself. bigeyes

So, uh.... yup! I felt like semi-ranting again! happy (<---- Not Smug!)
I do hope all y'all don't mind too much. Because I don't want to loose what few readers I have scared

Anyway, check out Mozy and have a good week/eval(the amount of time in days till next post/7) weeks!

Preston So writes: Interesting rant; gave me an interesting perspective on morality in general. How should we truly act if nobody cares? Intruiging ideas. Bwahaha, I will beat you with the Mozy referrals! Bwahahaha!

Brian writes: That brings up a related issue that I heard about today. I like this viewpoint: "It's not about how close you can get her without having sex, it's about how close you can get her to God" I like it anyway ;)
